Posting one more photo from the Olafur Eliasson exhibition @tate because the colours of the shadows make me so happy. Happy Friday everyone 💖

Ad: With the weekend in sight, I’m starting to think about entertaining. Brunch used to be a grand affair in our house, poached eggs all round. These days I prefer to do something that requires less precision, and have a more serve yourself type vibe…enter the bagel platter. It looks impressive, but isn’t style over substance. Pride of place in the centre, is a round of @BoursinUK, which compliments pretty much anything you can think of on a bagel. I’ve gone for all my favourites, including: smoked salmon, with crunchy cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, finished off with pickled gherkins and capers. Let me know in the comments what you would have on yours for the chance to win a £30 grocery voucher at the store of your choice to recreate this at home #ouiboursin #boursin T&Cs Open to UK residents only aged 18+. This competition is not in conjunction or endorsed by Instagram. Competition closes at midnight GMT Time on 07.08.19. Winners will be drawn at random and contacted by Boursin to arrange prize fulfilment within 7 days of the competition closing

Stayed @therosedeal for a second time last night, sadly no sign of Alexis or David though. Hoping Jonny might come and bring me breakfast tho 💖 #schittscreek

Thanks @hannahargyle for this snap, had such a lovely day hanging out in Deal with some top gals @lily_vanilli_cake @we_are_food @lucie_bennett @the_girl_in_the_cafe @rosiefoodie and now @ellypear has invaded my hotel room for an impromptu sleepover, after chips on the beach. One of those days that I’m truly grateful for this weird thing I call work 💖

Ad: Where I plan on spending most of my weekend if the rain holds off. Am I the only person that can read a book again and forget what happens so itʼs like reading a totally new book?! In my happy place, living out my teenage dreams in this hanging chair from @maisonsdumondeuk and reading about running away with the band (letʼs be realistic, reading about it is so much better, as Iʼm normally in bed these days before most headliners even go on stage). P.S. Have you checked out the blog to see how I added decking to our rented garden, it’s my favourite project yet #MyMdM

Home sweet home. Last night I watched series 4 episode 9 of @schittscreek and now I have ‘Simply The Best’ stuck on repeat in my head. If you know you know, if you don’t, go and watch it. It’s actual laughter medicine for the soul, I laughed and cried so much I had to take my clothes off cos I was so hot. Thank you @instadanjlevy, HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE P.S. Thanks for the flowers mum🌻🌻🌻 #TheBettyHouse #HowIRent

Ad: Ever since secondary school when my best friend and I tried to dye white jumpers red because we preferred the style of them to the standard issue school uniform, I’ve always been into dyeing things to get exactly the style I want (side note, school banned the jumpers and we moved on to trying to customize our uniform in some other way). Dyes have definitely improved since then, and @dylon_uk’s dye pods are great for giving something a new lease of life in your washing machine. I’ve been using them for a while, remember the jumpsuit I turned from pink to red at Christmas? Well that was this product! I’ve had a lot of a fun dyeing an old bed sheet this lovely Olive Green shade, I then cut it up into 20 square inches and stitched the edges to make new napkins. I think considering how much pink I have in my house, more things are going to get the Dylon Olive Green treatment, because no matter how many times I ask my two year old or 30 year old boyfriend no-one tried to keep baby pink linen clean. Watch this space #dylondye

Last of the holiday snaps, after this I’m done - I promise. I love a UK based holiday, I get really bad prickly heat so tend not to travel anywhere too hot in the summer, the weather in Kent the past few days was perfect. Going on holiday where we used to live was so easy and proof holiday is a state of mind. Next on the bucket list, which I’ve threatened to visit a 100 times, is to go back to Scotland. What holiday destinations have you loved in the UK? 🌼

CharlotteJacklin

Just went to check on my dream house to see how it is, looks lovely in the summertime 💖

Going to London today, so going to have to wear some actual clothes today, not sure how I feel about it. Thanks Margate you were glorious ❤️🌊

Trying to be a business owner, a mum, a friend, a daughter, a girlfriend and put the bins out on the right day has had my head spinning this week. Very grateful to have the opportunity to be all those things, but plates are smashing. Finishing the week by being kind to myself and saying there’s only so many hours in the day, I did my best. Happy Friday everyone, hope you’re being kind to yourself too 🌸 (📷 @brickdustandglitter)

Ad: So many of you ask me about doing nail art at home, so I was over the moon to experiment with these @NailsInc colours to create something fun and relativley easy. These 6 colours plus a top coat are part of an exclusive sunset collection called ‘Saved by the Beach’ which will be available on @QVCBeauty. The Nails Inc brushes are quite wide and flat so you can use them in a few different ways to get different thicknesses of strokes which is what I did here (dots are done with a nail dot tool, but could be done with a cocktail stick too). Four days in and still not a chip in sight thanks to their super quick drying and hard wearing topcoat (45 seconds to touch dry nails). If you want to recreate this look, and have some great colours to try out more nail art looks this summer then wait until Friday and I will share a link to pre-order these 7 polishes for £28.98, in my stories #QVCBeauty #TheIncEffect #BettyNailedIt

Happy Monday! I’m wearing this dress again today, but I don’t have photographic evidence, so here’s an old photo of me in it, just swap out the shoes for Birkenstocks. I bought this in the sale @cabbages_and_roses a couple of years ago and so pleased I did. I can wear it with sandals, boots, and heels for almost anything. I’ve definitely got a uniform: midi dresses with sleeves that you can wash at 30 degrees are totally my bag. What would you say yours is or do you prefer not to have one?!

It’s Friday and the sun is shining FINALLY! I’m sorry for everything I said when it was raining 😎 (dress gifted) 📷 @brickdustandglitter

Having one of those days, I mean everything is fine really, but I don’t think June woke up on the right side of her cot this morning. Whilst she naps, I decided to do a workout with @jemmas_health_hub (which keeps me calm by collecting those endorphins) and then went to faff around with the last of the season’s Peonies instead of doing the washing up. Hope you’re having a lovely Wednesday 🌸 (some perfumes gifted) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #TheBettyHouse #peonyaddict ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (image description: A half head ceramic vase sits on a dressing table with pink Peonies sitting in it. To one side is a cream Marshall speaker and to the left bottles of perfume lined up. A cropped circle mirror sits above it)

Another gem from my 80k strong camera roll, because it’s winter again, and I ain’t shooting a thing in this light. I think this sums me up in one photo, floral camouflage is a thing in this house (in more than one room) 🌸

charlottejacklin

Found an old photo I love on my phone whilst trying to manage some 80,359 photos...send help, or flowers. Can anyone beat me with their camera roll number?! 🌸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (image description: Charlotte stands with her back to the wall, her hair is plaited with lilac flowers in it)

I’ve wanted to add a gold pair of heels to my wardrobe for a few years now ever since I sold my towering gold platforms...RIP anything over a 3inch heel. These @loefflerrandall shoes have been in my line of vision for quite some time, and thanks to a sale spot from some eagle eyed followers @anthropologieeu they now have a new home. I’m definitely finding as I get older (and am in a privileged position that I can do so) saving up for something, that’s of great quality is better than a quick shopping fix. I imagine I’ll have these for many years to come ✨ (image description: a pair of gold lamè kitten heeled bow mules sit on a blush pink bed sheet)

Bets are on to how long that canopy keeps June awake tonight, but I’m too busy living out my interior decor dreams in her room to mind too much if she stays up playing peek-a-boo with herself. We’ve been lucky enough to be given furniture for June’s room from friends (and even kind strangers), be able to make other things and now with a few new additions it’s all coming together nicely. Wonder if there’s enough room for two of us in that cot as I want to move in here full time (chair and canopy gifted from @maisonsdumondeuk) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Image description: A photo of a toddler’s bedroom, a set of drawers sits in alcove with shelves above filled with children’s prints and books. Took a mirror selfie cos the light was nice @_dorta_’s. Getting lots of wear out of my @johannasands_thelabel dress, will probably wear again tomorrow as it requires zero ironing. Also I’m convinced my hair is looking good due to washing it in Kentish water, am I imagining things?! P.S. Note to self get a floor length mirror 💖 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀(image description: Charlotte is taking a full length selfie in a mirror in nail studio, wearing a pink maxi dress with cream boots and a white bag)

charlottejacklin

Washing machine’s on the blink, which is not ideal with four loads of muddy clothes lined up on the kitchen floor (we only went camping for two nights but I have more dirty clothes than 6 days at glasto), but I did visit @_dorta_ to get some incredible nail art and brought home some pandan cake from @cocotang__, so overall it’s been a very good day indeed 🌼 #bettynailedit ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Image description: A pair of hands sit against a cream back drop with floral nail art

150 years old is quite an achievement right?! Happy Birthday to @sainsburys, who started way back in 1869 - selling only eggs, milk and butter in their first shop on Drury Lane. What better way to celebrate such a milestone than by asking @violetsbakery to bake an extra special cake in your honour. The wonderfully talented founder Claire Ptak has created a delicious Orange and Blossom cake recipe (complete with sprinkles) that’s got the royal stamp of approval. I had the pleasure of cooking with Claire at a special masterclass yesterday, and learnt a lot from her encouraging yet laid back approach to baking. If like my mum and June you enjoy reviewing every cake, in every cafe humanly possible, you’ll be pleased to know that you can taste a slice of the Sainsbury’s 150th birthday cake in its cafe’s for £1.50 until May 27th. If you’d like to try making it yourself (if I can do it, you most certainly can), click the link in my bio or head to my stories and swipe up. Who would like a slice right now? Hands up! #Sainsburys150

charlottejacklin

You know they say a picture tells a thousand words?! If you look at my nail posts you’ll see sometimes there are two hands and other times just one. One means I’m annoyed with Jack so flew solo with my vision, two means we’re getting on alright. However today he’s just not here and June takes no artistic direction whatsoever, so we are back to one. Very pleased with these floral masterpieces on my nails done @still___london yesterday 🌸 #BettyNailedIt #FloralNails

charlottejacklin

I had my cake and ate it with @jomalonelondon this afternoon. Loved learning about creating a time capsule of time through scent on your wedding day. Going to speak to them about borrowing that gigantic cake to pop out of on the big day...🎂 (invited) #ScentedWedding

Hobbies and interests: trinkets & flowers 💖 (thank you for all the birthday love yesterday, made this girl feel very loved)

3 3 🎈 🎈 🎈 Hates birthdays, hates attention said me NEVER! Getting older truly is a privilege, the things I want to achieve in a year is: more fun, more caravan holidays and being able to sew a 70s inspired dress 🥳🥳🥳

Ad: Itʼs no secret I am a big fan of a jumpsuit, itʼs my go to parenting uniform. This one from @JohnLewisandPartners has just gone to the top of the list, itʼs super comfy and has so many styling details I love. Iʼve wanted to try, a bumbag (is their a chicer term?!) for a while now, I donʼt care if my 16 year old nephew is wearing one, they look damn practical ok. Iʼve now got both hands free, ready to roll for any eventuality June might throw at me. Have you tried it yet?! Once youʼve experienced it, you might never go back, goodbye handbags, it was fun while it lasted #JLFashion

Ad: Hands down my favourite project I’ve worked on yet! I love working with @OliviaBurtonLondon, who have just launched their most floral inspired pieces to date with their ‘British Blooms’ collection. If you’ve been following along in stories you’ll know that recently I completed a DNA test with @ancestryUK ahead of International Day of Families on 15th of May. The most interesting part has been filling out my family tree and exploring my 39% of Scottish heritage. My mum is Glaswegian, and whilst she doesn’t sound it anymore, she definitely still carries the spirit. I’ll never forget the trips we took up to visit her side of the family there, who from my memory were the warmest, and most generous of people, especially when it comes to tea and cake. We never ever got a tea poured (from the church tea pot with two handles, because it was THAT big) without a wide selection of sweet treats, and if they knew you were coming, sandwiches. It was my Grandma Betty’s professional hobby, I’ve been to more tea rooms than I can count with my mum and grandparents. Sadly June didn’t get to meet them, but we carry on their traditions and continue on working our way through as many tearooms as we can, sampling all the cakes as we go. What traditions do you carry on from your Grandparents, I love hearing other people’s family traditions #InternationalDayofFamilies #AncestryDNA

I wish it was this bloody sunny right now...when I did my spring summer wardrobe switch over the other week (way too premature with all this rain, sorry it’s my fault) it really got me thinking about what I really wear, and the pieces which get worn time and time again. I just wanted to sing the praises of my favourite @freepeopleuk dress, which I’ve got in two colours. I can’t see me ever growing tired of it, when I don’t know what to wear I always reach for it. It has been dressed up, dressed down, and back again. It’s not the cheapest of dresses, but it’s definitely got it’s price per wear right down, and it was the only thing that fit me right until the nine and half months of pregnancy. Every time I wear it, I feel a lot like I look in this photo, what is your most hardest working piece in your wardrobe? P.S. Please take extra care when shooting in and around nature, stick to paths and do not stand or trample on anything 🌼 (📷 @brickdustandglitter)

Sat at my desk and just wanted to chat to you all about my story replies being switched off. Part of me thinks, get over it, no one cares, there are WAY more important things going on in the world. But the other half thinks, I’ve always been quite honest with you all, and appreciate this online community, the privilege that comes with it and thought I owed you a few words at least. I switched them off as I was getting overwhelmed with trying to make sure I replied to each one everyday, everyday I set out to reply to them all, and everyday I failed. I know there are some people who would love the problem of too many messages, but I just can’t stand the thought that you may think I’m ignoring you. The best part about social media is the conversation in my DMs, in my photo comments and I don’t want to shut that down. In short I’ve been wondering about how to go forward, and one of the answers was not to update stories (literally that thought came in and was dismissed within 5 seconds), but a more reasonable solution is that I’m going to switch my story replies off every now and again. Like office hours, whatever they are, or my equivalent. If they are off, you can still message me, by going to my profile and hitting message, having story replies off just slows down the volume of messages and means I can make sure I reply to almost everyone. Hope this all makes sense, and if you have any thoughts / ideas, let me know below as I’d love to hear them. I don’t want to step away from social media, but just need to use it in a way that’s a bit more manageable for my time and brain 💖 P.S. And I probably don’t say it enough, but thanks for being a lovely bunch (photo by @kfiszerfoto for @grillodesigns home tour) #HowIRent

Ad: This time of year can have a diary full of weddings and whilst I love more formal dressing, I have made the mistake of buying something especially for the occasion, for it not to be worn as much as I thought afterwards. This dress from @JohnLewisandPartners is perfect for repurposing in lots of different ways after a big event. Add sandals for a more casual look, and then ankle or knee length boots in the colder months. And more importantly, IT HAS POCKETS! Pampas grass optional #JLFashion

Home sweet home, matching my cushion to my flowers since...erm, April ‘19. If you’re looking for some bank holiday evening reading, take a look around my rented home by popping over to @grillodesigns for a blog post and video 💖💚💖 (chair & cushion are vintage, I worked with Bloom & Wild on sponsored content this year - love for flowers, entirely my own) #MyRentedHome

Happy hen @livpurvis, can’t wait for the wedding! No more hen dos for a while now, back home to my baby (& Jack) with a bag full of @theflourpotbakerybrighton goodies. Hope you’re all having a lovely bank holiday Monday 👰🏼 💖 #galvinsjustwannahavefun

charlottejacklin

Oh I do like to be by the seaside (especially Brighton) 🐓#galvinsjustwannahavefun

charlottejacklin

The cat is finally out the bag, I’m Brighton for @livpurvis’ hen do. Trying not to spill any spoilers about this weekend has felt like forever. And yes it’s my 3rd hen do in eight days, now available for hire nationwide 🥳 #GalvinsJustWannaHaveFun

charlottejacklin

Ever since I first tasted alcohol, I’ve never been a couple of drinks and leave it kind of person. Whilst I don’t really drink in the week, I do love a good party. This summer I have more hen dos and weddings than I can shake a stick at, whilst I love a cold glass of champagne, with those bubbles popping and the condensation on the side of the glass sparkling. What I don’t love are the hangovers the next day that fill me anxiety and sometimes tears. Almost 33, my story is I have fun at parties, the funny stories I have could fill a memoir (not all are funny, but that’s what we do isn’t it, turn awful alcohol fuelled situations into hilarious anecdotes). But I wanted to write a new chapter, and try something different. My friend recommended ‘The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober’ by Catherine Gray @unexpectedjoyof, in it she suggests (if you wish) living without alcohol for 90 days and seeing how you feel. I didn’t drink when I was pregnant, but that for me was a no-brainer, I was doing it for someone else. But giving alcohol up for me, oddly, seems a bit ridiculous, a bit far fetched. How do I know I like it, if I’ve never tried? At least after a few sober weddings and hen dos under my belt I can compare, contrast and see if it’s for me. If a busy social calendar is filling you with a bit of dread, I’d fully recommend giving this book a whirl. A bit of a heavy post on the start to a bank holiday, but thought I’d share incase anyone else was feeling the same 💖 P.S. nothing to do with alcohol but how great is my new headband from @georgie_cole_fashion via @etsyuk (I bought two colours because they are AMAZING)

Always been a practical dresser, said no one about me ever. New hair thanks to @aj.tv @joshwoodcolour (gifted) 💖

Every millennial cliche under the sun, and I am here for it (snapped @sugaringlondon whilst I queued for @eggbreak_ldn) 🌵🌵🌵

charlottejacklin

Definitely got up 30 seconds earlier this morning so I could sit and stare at my Peonies. Off to London today to host @rowan_blossom’s book launch at Anthropologie, but before that I’m going to get my hair did @joshwoodcolour. Can’t believe I’m typing all that, that’s a day newly freelance me could’ve only dreamed off when pacing the floor in the darkest flat in Crouch End many moons ago. I’ve been working late afternoon and evenings recently because that’s what is working for me right now, the main bonus of working for yourself is having the flexibility of working when you can / want. Doesn’t always look like that, but nothing lasts forever - so enjoying it whist it works. I’m currently taking more time in my life to practise gratitude and joy, because what’s the point in being where you once wished you’d be and overthinking / worrying about it all. Here’s to you and hoping you have a good Thursday, tell me below what things are you grateful for right now (big or small)? I’m definitely grateful I can work from my phone / laptop and take it with me wherever I go 🌸

Ad: Can I get a drum roll please?! My favourite jeans are now available in white! Since giving up my maternity jeans (gone but never forgotten) a few months after June was born, Iʼve only ever worn these girlfriend jeans from @TuClothing. They are super comfy, come up high on the waist, and are available in sizes 8-22 (and 6-28 in the petite range). Jeans shouldnʼt make you come out in a sweat in the changing room, and thanks to Tu - Iʼm not. Bring back the sunshine please, and watch me try to dodge Juneʼs muddy / sticky / paint covered hand prints whilst wearing white from head to toe #TuDenim #TuTrending

One of the most frequently asked questions I get after, how is June, is how is your @away suitcase? As someone who uses a suitcase pretty much every week for work, it’s honestly changed my working life for the better. I know it’s just a suitcase, but as my grandma used to say ‘buy cheap and buy twice’. The amount of suitcases I’ve had over the years that have woken up the whole of north London up as I scraped them along the pavement home as a wheel had snapped off, or more recently running across King’s Cross station with a piece of fabric flapping across the floor of my old hand me down suitcase. These were gifted, but oddly before they emailed me I was very close to hitting purchase on the carry on, which is the one I use the most. I’ve loved these so much I’ve since purchased a 3rd middle sized one to complete the set (definitely helps that they are pink). Have you ever upgraded on something practical and thought, why didn’t I do this sooner?! Other adult purchases that have made my life easier include: a hand steamer and portable battery pack for my phone (and the small suitcase even comes with its very own) 💖

charlottejacklin

Forgot I had a nail appointment booked today, after a hen do and June’s birthday party it felt like the last thing I should be doing. But an hour spent with @laurawadenails discussing diet culture, being self employed, gratitude and a whole other manner of things really set me up for the day. I’ve been soul searching a bit recently about life / work, what it all means, and if I’m doing the right things. Constantly second guessing yourself is exhausting, and I’ve been on that wheel of self doubt for the past few weeks. I’m not perfect, I’m human and figuring out life just like everyone else. This weekend has reaffirmed to me I need to start taking one day at time, and find that joy in each day, as it’s so easy to loose sometimes. I’m alive, I’m healthy, I have a roof over my head, friends & family who are incredible and I’m being the best mum and girlfriend I know how. All that from a nail appointment, if anyone’s ever wondered why I get my nails done so often (and believe me I have), I think that’s why, it’s like a mini therapy session💅🏼 #BettyNailedIt P.S. This is repeat design from January, but something about white dots makes me very happy and I’m all about that joy life

Yesterday I had a lot fun in field with @brickdustandglitter, but more importantly I had shorts on for the first time in about twenty years...and do you know what, it wasn’t awful. I’ve vowed to give less f*cks this summer when it comes to dressing, it’s about time my legs saw the light of day. Is there anything you want to commit to wardrobe wise when the sun starts shining? Let’s support it in the comments 🌼 #WareShrimps
