BUT donβt get it twisted... appreciation does not mean we are obligated to do something in return. . Feeling obligated means weβre not aligned to a sincere desire to give back. And if we donβt want to do something in return, ITβS TOTALLY OKAY! Because if someone went out of their way for us and expect something in return, then what theyβre actually doing is called MANIPULATION. . So letβs do ourselves a favor and only give back if the desire is sincere. Otherwise weβre going to be in a constant state of βYou do this, and Iβll do that. You do this, and Iβll do that. These words right hurrrrrr. Are en fuego. Self-esteem so high that youβre humble. Gosh what a good signifier of someone who holds themselves in high esteem. Iβve been reading a lot about self-esteem & other-esteem (when we place whether we are valuable or not on someone elseβs shoulders) β and the tools /info needed to cross the bridge to the brighter side >> a connection to your own value + essence. And let me tell you, we can read 10009838373 memeβs and quotes that say, βlove yourself and life will be all gravy,β and the truth is, thatβs BS. In the nicest way. Yes, having self-love + valuing yourself IS HUGE. Like epic. But, itβs one thing to know something, and itβs another thing to feel it so deep in your bones. So how do we get cultivate that internal well of self-worth & value?? Equal parts action + intimacy with a splash of compassion and a heap of responsibility. We cross the bridge by taking actions that align with our core values & we set boundaries to protect what matters. To do this, we have to be Uber intimate with the world of our emotions + needs + wants + desires. Remember, if youβre not clear on your game-plan and vision β youβre just an extension of somebody elseβs needs, wants and vision. Enter: frustration + disconnection. So, to get to the point...someone with high self-esteem values themselves (not in an inflated, I can do no wrong + Iβm perfect kinda way) but in a deeply intimate way β where they can feel & relate to shame, anger and beyond all the while staying connected to their hearts. The more secure we are, the more humble we become. Why? When you know all sides of your humanness (the great and the not so great) and meet them with compassion === you open yourself to seeing the human in others. The real real. Aka you cross the bridge to standing tall, humbly, connected to your truth - and the essence of what it means to be human. Alive.
