San Francisco, the Bay Bridge and the rolling fog from the flight today 🛫☁️
June is World Pride month, and this year marks 50 years since the Stonewall uprising, a pivotal moment in the modern fight for LGBTQ+ rights in the US. But for every Stonewall, we know there are dozens — if not hundreds — of untold Pride stories, which is why throughout June, Instagram is unveiling ten large-scale #UntoldPride installations around New York City, which happens to be my home town. These installations aim to shine a light on historic LGBTQ+ pioneers, places and movements that have paved the way for today’s queer community. If you’re in New York, I highly recommend you check out one of our installations. Happy #PRIDE!
Today we're announcing three new leaders: Justin Osofsky as our Chief Operating Officer, Gedioen Aloula as Head of Marketing and Tamar Shapiro as Head of Analytics. They bring immense talent and experience to their roles, and I'm excited about how each can help lead Instagram in different ways. Over the past nine months, we ran an extensive internal and external search for a COO. We considered a very diverse slate of exceptional candidates with a wide variety of skills and experiences. As the search progressed, it became increasingly clear that championing and advocating for Instagram’s efforts across FB Inc, tackling operational challenges at a global scale, and building great teams were critical elements of this role. Justin brings this expertise to the table, having run global operations at Facebook for the past seven years (including supporting the Instagram community); leading media partnerships (also helping to build the Instagram partnerships team); and growing his org from several hundred to thousands of people around the world. As our new head of marketing, Gedioen is an experienced brand marketer who will bring new perspectives to Instagram. He comes from HP, where he was the global head of marketing. Before that, he led US consumer marketing for Visa and developed iconic work for the Olympics and World Cup. Gedioen’s experience building creative global campaigns and his strong understanding of what makes the Instagram brand special will be a huge asset as we continue sharing with the world the joy and value of Instagram. Many know Tamar from her current role as head of analytics for the Sharing Experiences organization. Tamar is a proven leader, having managed large analytics teams at both Foursquare and American Express before she joined Instagram. She has done amazing work since joining, not only for the analytics and data engineering organizations, but also for the New York office. I'm thrilled to have a strong leader in New York with Instagram experience join the executive team. I’m incredibly excited for Justin, Gedioen, and Tamar to join the team - please join me in congratulating them!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak at F8 to share some exciting new announcements about Instagram, including the launch of our Donation Sticker here in the US. Tools like this don’t get made without a diverse group of people across engineering, policy, marketing, design and many other teams. That’s why I’m happy to announce that together with @Facebook, @Instagram is donating $100K to @BlackGirlsCode, a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging young women of color to learn how to code, and ultimately, to pursue careers in technology. It’s important that we support the next generation of amazing computer scientists so that we can keep building amazing tools like this. #blackgirlscode #f8
Lots of exciting @instagram news today, launching donation stickers and shopping from creators, testing private like counts, a new camera design and a variety of ways to fight online bullying. Much more to come! Also, this booth is unreal... #instagram, #f82019
Not sure what this place is... but thought it looked interesting. #fromtheair
Nico came to visit me at work today! Last time he was asked what I do for a living he explained that I 'push around chairs all day.' #bringyourkidtoworkday #thingstoddlerssay

Again, since when is San Francisco a city?
San Francisco is starting to look like a city. Also enjoying this extra wide lens on my phone, guessing it'll be standard soon.
Still conflicted about this building...
It was awesome to meet @davidbeckham today. The work he's doing with 7.org is inspiring and I'm excited to see Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami play.
Enjoying my former stomping ground
Last week, @kevin and @mikeyk announced that they're leaving Instagram. The impact of their work over the past eight years has been incredible. They built a product people love that brings joy and connection to so many lives. I'm humbled and excited about the opportunity to now lead the Instagram team. I want to thank them for trusting me to carry forward the values that they have established. I will do my best to make them, the team, and the Instagram community proud.
Couldn't resist the 🚢.
