Curious to know what sends commands to the Hunter UAV? Well here it is, the Ground Control Station (GCS). Pro tip: In the heat of the AZ desert, you’ll want to be inside the GCS where it’s a cool 70 degrees Fahrenheit! It’s filled with a bunch of interesting technology and the operators are great! The flight line is an amazing place to see what it takes to operate the Hunter. I learned a lot and can’t wait to go again. Now back to work! #NationalInternDay #NorthropGrumman
I’m back in #Arizona at the flight line to observe regression testing to make sure the software is working properly. This is the MQ-5B Hunter, an awesome unmanned aircraft! As part of the Flight Sciences and Test Engineering Team I have a lot of fun analyzing the data recorded during testing and normal flight! #NationalInternDay #NorthropGrumman
I had a great time touring the Innovation Center and meeting other interns at the Intern Kickoff Event! This #VR simulation is just one of many technology demos #NorthropGrumman employees can use to visualize our amazing systems. The other interns and I had an absolute blast! Stay tuned for my upcoming posts on what it’s like to go down to the flight line! #NationalInternDay

On June 15, 2017, we successfully completed a ground test of the launch abort motor for NASA's Orion spacecraft at our Promontory, Utah facility. On July 2, we, along with @NASA and @LockheedMartin, will conduct the Ascent Abort-2 (AA-2) test from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, which will demonstrate the system’s ability to steer the spacecraft away from the launch vehicle in the event of an emergency on the pad or during ascent. This test will feature the #NorthropGrumman-built launch abort and attitude control motors, along with our Abort Test Booster, which will launch the test capsule. Stay tuned for more info!

Our Abort Test Booster stands ready at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station to launch @nasa's Orion spacecraft for its Ascent Abort-2 (AA-2) flight test, scheduled for July 2. The test will utilize the launch abort and attitude control motors, both critical components of the system that will ignite and pull Orion away from the booster at max dynamic pressure during launch. The Launch Abort System increases the safety for astronauts who will fly on the NASA Space Launch System in the Orion spacecraft. NASA is testing this safety system to ensure it works properly, with the hope it will never be needed. #NorthropGrumman
