We support the freedom of speech and creation for artists and thinkers, who are being violently persecuted under Decree 349. Under the decree, which came into effect on Friday, art and cultural activity is heavily restricted through government authority in Cuba. This led to the arrest of artists Michel Matos, Tania Bruguera, the poet Amaury Pacheco and the organizers of the Bienal de La Habana: Luis Manuel Otera Alcantar and Yanelys Nuñez Levya. #noaldecreto349 Read the Declaration of Artists for a sit in at the Ministry of Culture of Cuba: http://bit.ly/DeclarationNoAlDecreto349

Repost @weltkulturen.museum ・・・ Performance “Transmutação da Carne“ with Ayrson Heráclito. “The enslavement of black people, inflicting pain and wounds on the entire world, affects all of us. Everyone is invited to attend the “transmutation of the meat”. A glowing iron placed on the skin (garments of dried meat) awakens primeval memories. Noise, odour and smoke – wounds needing to be transformed by art. We must never forget them. The energy of the spirits of the dead is transmuted into a force revolutionary, positive and transformative. Hearing, seeing and feeling teaches us things which literature and history cannot.” (Ayrson Heráclito) —— Photos by Wolfgang Günzel. #weltkulturenmuseum #wkm #frankfurt #ffm #weloveffm #festival #museum #museumlover #museumsufer #sachsenhausen #art #artist #contemporaryart #performance #performanceart #ayrsonheraclito #entreterraemar #exhibition #marinaabramovic

I am very happy to share that the new paperback edition of my memoir, Walk Through Walls, is out today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This photo on the cover was taken in 1977, when me and Ulay lived in a van. We wrote a manifesto for it called Art Vital: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No fixed living place. Permanent movement. Direct contact. Local relation. Passing limitations. Taking risks. Mobile energy. No rehearsal. No predicted end. No repetition. Extended vulnerability. Exposure to chance. Primary reactions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #WalkThroughWalls Available now at: http://bit.ly/WTWPB
