“Last Audience” Production Residency Day 4 /// It is safe to say we are exhausted making scores for each audience, not to repeat, and to take on your roles and imagine you, imagine you, dear audience, doing and resisting and misunderstanding and interpreting and being exactly what we need. What might you do? We have showings this week at Amherst College at Kirby Theater. Tuesday at 7. Wed at 2. Come if you are nearby. We need to stop imagining you.

AUTHOR is open at @featherstonecenterforthearts! Featherstone and @dance_the_yard have partnered to present AUTHOR through July 14. Come and play! Link in bio.

now.here.this //////////::::::::: Object Research / Final Action Reflecto-Cube (photo by Lucie Kroening) now.here.this consists of 4 meditative marches through Prague honoring acts of resistance and ends with an intervention at the Exhibition Grounds/PQ Plaza. On June 13 at 10:30 we will end now.here.this with a final action at the plaza as part of @formations.pq. The reflecto-cube is a DIY Mylar inflatable that is meant to turn grim protest into a playful participatory game. A form of de-escalation with surrealist humor, it has been effective in stopping police charges. The cube was an outcome of a creative activism conference workshop organized in the frame of “como acabar con el mal” (how to end evil). It was initiated and maintained by Colectivo Enmedio and Eclectic Electric Collective. . . . . #nowherethispq #pqformations #pq19 #reflectocube @praguequadrennial

Good morning Prague! Today is our final march. now.here.this March no. 4 As part of @formations.pq at @praguequadrennial meet us today at Cafe Slavia at 11:00 for a meditative march through the city ending at the PQ Plaza. Cafe Slavia, across from the National Theater, was one of the meeting grounds for planning during the Velvet Revolution. In describing his role as a dissident, Václav Havel wrote in 1979: "...we never decided to become dissidents. We have been transformed into them, without quite knowing how, sometimes we have ended up in prison without precisely knowing how. We simply went ahead and did certain things that we felt we ought to do, and that seemed to us decent to do, nothing more nor less." #pqformations #pq19 #praguequadrennial #nowherethispq #nothinglastsforever

now.here.this //////////::::::::: Site Research / March no. 3 Jan Palach and Jan Zajic Memorial now.here.this consists of 4 meditative marches through Prague honoring acts of resistance. On June 10 at 17:00 we will start our third march of the @praguequadrennial at this site. In late 1968 the Warsaw Pact countries led by the USSR invaded Czechoslovakia in response to the Prague Spring, a period of reform loosening up rights of speech and freedom of expression. Jan Palach was a Czech student who, in protest of the invasion, set himself on fire in Wenceslas Square, on January 16, 1969. His funeral turned into a major protest. A month later another student, Jan Zajic, self-immolated on the same spot. Palach’s final letter stated: “Our demands are not extreme.” . So many thanks to the incredibly generous audiences in Philly for breaking bread and communing with us in Last Audience. Thank you to @headlongtheatre for hosting us and giving us the most luxurious elements of making: time, space and rooms of our own. And to my amazing collaborators @kccouch , @devynnemory , @davidthomson.nyc , Stephan Moore, Susan Mar Landau and LDeArmon: you are all beyond. #lastaudience #arrozcongandules🇵🇷
My first chouquette! Thanks to #lucienchefambition Beautiful, yes?
Thank you all for coming and communing with us at Sunday Service at @knockdowncenter. What a pleasure to see all your faces and share the moving work of @guajire, @corihouse, @tarasheena, @picchurris and @rosanacaban. It was a beautiful night. Thank you especially to @alexiswilkinson and @wakingstephanie for grace.
We are performing. If you come, you are performing. It is hard to perform. You know that. So come and try this out with me and @devynnemory, @kccouch, @davidthomson.nyc and Stephan Moore. We are making a thing and it needs someone. It could be you. It is at @nylivearts this Friday at 6. Link in bio. photo by @velvettyginger #lastaudience

Thank you to all who came to our open studio/workshop of “Last Audience.” We learned so much from doing this and sharing this early iteration with you. What a pleasure to see all your faces and be amongst you!
Ringing in the New Year! As part of @nylivearts Live Artery programming during APAP, we are workshopping our new project, "Last Audience." It takes place in their Studio on Saturday, January 5 at 5pm. I would love to share this early glimpse of the work with you, set to premiere in October 2019. Link for tix and info in my profile. As the year draws to a close, I hope you will include a canary torsi in your year-end giving. 2019 is a big year for us. We will be premiering a new work, "Last Audience," touring CAST, STAGE and AUTHOR, and celebrating our ten year anniversary. The seeds for “Last Audience” were planted in 2018 with residencies at Yaddo and Marble House Project, and a trip to Sicily to see the ancient Greek amphitheaters. I am especially grateful to have been invited to write by David Bruin and Tom Sellar for their article ”What’s Holding Us Back? A Forum on Nationalism, Xenophobia, and American Theater Now” for Yale Repertory Theatre / Yale School of Drama “Theater” Issue 48:3, and to have been invited by colleague Melinda Ring to join her in making an iteration of Simone Forti’s See Saw for the MoMA’s exhibit, “Judson Dance Theater: The Work is Never Done.” Many thanks for your support! It truly keeps us going through the year. A link to contribute is in my bio line. Wishing you a transformational 2019!
It is that time of year. And yes, it is homemade.
Honored to be included in this “mix of artists, writers, producers and other cultural leaders” by @davidbruin and @criticaldisposition in their article ”What’s Holding Us Back? A Forum on Nationalism, Xenophobia, and American Theater Now” for @yalerep / @yaleschoolofdrama “Theater” Issue 48:3. #photobymariabaranova
“The See Saw is a Stage.” - Simone Forti. I am thrilled to be developing with choreographer Melinda Ring a version of Simone’s See Saw.
