Highlights from this past week include but are not limited to: filming a video with @thirdeyeblind, leading my first 5.9 in the Gunks, bass fishing and floating with Riz on the Delaware and posing with a giant inflatable unicorn that is also a sprinkler 🤯 Not pictured: a 24 hr trip to LA to work with @tylerbatesofficial and recording a new @sleighbells song that I’m very excited for you all to hear 🦄
Life is strange and sometimes @thirdeyeblind writes a song with you and @sleighbells in mind and then you get to record that song and then it becomes the first single on their new album. Thank you @stephanjenkins for reaching out and being so damn lovely to work with. Link in profile. 📸 @danielallennolan
Overflowing with gratitude in this moment. Just back from a week guiding four of the toughest and most exuberant kids I’ve ever met. We survived 6 nights in the backcountry, summited 3 high peaks (including Mt. Marcy⛰) and covered 35 miles on some of New York’s toughest trails. We waited out epic thunderstorms huddled in a cave, cooked dinner on boulders and splashed in ice cold mountain pools. We sang songs, got eaten by bugs and spent a lot of time talking about 💩 We cried, we laughed and discussed everything from human rights to Harry Potter. I also (as promised) ate an entire jar of peanut butter by myself 🤦🏻♀️ Home now reflecting and beyond content with a new 🔥 @sleighbells track to dive into. My family is healthy and my friends are there for me. In this moment it all just feels really really right ❤️
One more year with @youngwomenwhocrush complete. We created enough sweet moments this weekend to last a lifetime. Thank you to the community that made our first overnight adventure a true success. Tahmina said it best during her reflection, “We supported each other and as a result we all made it to the top together.” 📸 @ervarisco Special thanks to @mohonkpreserve @mountainskillz @evolv_worldwide @snowpeakusa @clifbar @gunksclimbers @chris_vultaggio @americanalpine and of course @thecliffslic and @discoveroutdoorsfoundation ❤️

There is nothing glamorous or really social media worthy about teaching in the outdoors. I’m usually sweaty, my hair pulled back in a braid under a helmet or a hat, wearing the same workout clothes with no makeup on my face. I’m likely making an awkward expression since I’m mid-explanation or very deep in thought. Despite not looking like what I do onstage or in band photos I believe this an important side of me for all of you to see. It’s moments when I’m completely lost in teaching that I feel as powerful and purposeful as I do when I’m standing onstage with @sleighbells or writing and recording a song in the studio. These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of challenging and triumphant moments teaching both kids and adults in the outdoors. I’ve learned so much from my students and I’m beyond grateful to be in a place where I’m able to give and receive so much knowledge. Thank you @youngwomenwhocrush @heyflashfoxy @newriverclimbing @discover.outdoors @wildearthny for the opportunities and thank you @sj_mccauley @lou.bank @ceze and @allieoui for the photos ❤️
Here are a series of silly photos of me being stoked after passing my @amga1979 Single Pitch Instructor Assessment today. It’s been a long journey and I’m damn proud of myself. I couldn’t have done it without the support of the climbing community and my friends and family. I’m so freaking excited to share my passion for outdoor education and climbing with future students and to continue to work to make the mountains more accessible to and inclusive of all people regardless of race, gender and/or socio-economic status. Lastly here’s to closing the gender gap among outdoor professionals and getting more women and non-binary folks guiding and educating in the outdoors. So much love and gratitude to the following people @genuineselfwellness @carolyngunksguide @patty_piton @mountainskillz @dustin_sportsclimb @chris_vultaggio

Woke up at 1am and summited Mt. Hood. Life is rad. Now it’s nap time 😴 @discover.outdoors @timberlinemountainguides
just after doing battle with my first 5.10 gear lead. it wasn’t pretty but it was progress. shout out to @clarasoh for the inspiration. thank you @chris_vultaggio for the photo.
Ever since A pair of Canada Geese stole my rice cakes and chased me out of the playground when I was 8 I’ve never much cared for them. They’re loud and aggressive and my dog always tries to eat their poop. However yesterday while topping out on an epic route in Smith Rock I was greeted by a pair of honking geese silhouetted by the sunset. It was strange and funny and beautiful and now I like geese a little more. There’s gotta be a life lesson in there somewhere 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you @floodmagazine for giving me the cover of your Passion Issue. Such an honor. It’s a beautiful and inspiring issue and features total babes like @ladygrouplove ❤️ Also thrilled they chose to highlight @youngwomenwhocrush and how much the program means to me. Go check it out! Link in my profile 🥰 “It’s just climbing, and yet it has such a profound impact on these girls’ lives,” she says. “They’re learning so much more than how to move up a wall. They’re learning how to have faith in themselves; they’re learning how to have self-confidence; they’re learning how to redefine these societal definitions of what it means to be a woman, and certainly what it means to be an urban woman, or a woman of color, or a Muslim woman, or what it means to wear a hijab, or to live in a homeless shelter, or to have just come here from Ecuador and barely speak English. We have such a diverse group of girls, and climbing is so universal. It has the ability to cut through all the stress and the pressure of being a young woman in New York City. It allows them to just have fun while pushing themselves.”
A little Joshua Tree therapy after a nonstop week of writing and recording. Happy.
I never knew my biological Grandmother but this was her necklace. Apparently she was a wild one. She loved to sing and owned a bar where on occasion she would smash beer bottles over the heads of unruly customers. Seems appropriate to be wearing this necklace to our @sleighbells DJ set tonight @brooklynbowl 🤷🏻♀️Come dance. Doors at 11pm, @anniehartforsure at 11:30 📸 @chris_vultaggio
I love you. All of you. Keep raising your voices and keep on crushing. #internationalwomensday 📸 @vleephotographs
Yesterday’s journey to the summit was long and arduous. It started with an ice lead that pushed me mentally and forced me to trust my every move. Then we trudged through miles of steep snow, post-holing and bushwhacking our way above tree-line. Finally we emerged to the freezing, windswept world above and despite the cold, reveled in the golden hour magic that surrounded us. We descended below the trees and after some much needed tea and whiskey began the trek back to the car guided by our headlamps. We are safe, warm and grateful but fully aware of the power of the mountain we just climbed. It’s simple: be prepared, stay positive and definitely don’t fuck up and die. Love you guys @chris_vultaggio @just19x Thank you for an epic few days of adventure and growth.
Back in the wild. Out here my path becomes clearer and my goals are distilled. I’m full of big dreams right now and with each challenging step I’m getting closer to realizing them all... 📸 @chris_vultaggio

Perhaps my finest moment from this weekend’s winter adventures. Loving my new snowshoes from @rockandsnow. Damn good technique, right guys?! #nailedit 📸 @chris_vultaggio
Perhaps the most eco-friendly and nontoxic mascara out there courtesy of Mother Nature. We did some serious winter-ing this past week. Grateful for great friends and great gear. Get out there people!! #fullyalive 📸 @chris_vultaggio at -10°
Late night reading. Bring it 2019. I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. starting the year off right ☺️

It’s easy to feel like your vote doesn’t count. We all get disillusioned. We all feel like just one insignificant voice in a sea of too many. Today in San Juan County, Utah, Willie Grayeyes won a historic election by less than 100 votes. He will become the first Democrat and first Native American to serve his district. I am proud to have been a small part of this victory and encourage you all to remember that sometimes 100 votes make the difference between progress and stagnation. Swipe to see @chris_vultaggio and I standing proud with Willie while filming the #OurLand Project 📸 @madelyn.blair
We interviewed Congressional candidates, knocked on doors, cuddled all the cats, played with all the pups, called countless voters, gave rides to the polls, and now we wait as ballots are counted... Whatever happens I’m proud to have worked with such a dedicated and diverse team of engaged citizens. This is what democracy looks like 🙌🏼
Spontaneous puppy attacks make voter canvassing even more fun #govote #protectbearsears

I made a ridiculous face in hopes that you will take a moment to read this post, so here it goes. I’m headed back to Bluff, Utah with @chris_vultaggio in a few days to volunteer with the Rural Utah Project. Our friends at RUP have been working tirelessly to register voters and ensure that the Native community in San Juan County finally has the resources they need to get to the polls and cast their ballots free from systemic discrimination and voter intimidation. While the situation in Utah is historic (click the link in my profile to read more) every election matters and there are local elections all across the nation in need of election monitors and volunteers for all sorts of #getoutthevote efforts. If you can’t take the time to volunteer then please take the time to vote. Today I walked into my local Board of Elections office and completed my absentee ballot. It was an easy and enjoyable process. If only all Americans could be so lucky to have access to a polling place where they are treated with dignity and respect. I’ll continue to post updates on our work but in the meanwhile take this time before November 6th to educate yourself about who’s on your ballot. Be informed. Vote for equality, education, conservation and human rights. Vote against discrimination, ignorance, exploitation and oppression.
Well this happened 🤯 MIND BLOWN. Thank you @momandpopmusic for making it all possible and thank you @tommorello for being the most gracious rockstar out there. RESPECT. here is a behind the scenes polaroid taken after wardrobe and before makeup on the set of “her smell” i still can’t quite wrap my brain around the fact that i’m actually in this film. thank you @alexrossperry for the opportunity.
Standing on a rock in Italy. Standing with Christine Blasey Ford. Seriously how can you watch that testimony and not believe her? How can you watch Brett Kavanaugh’s testimony and believe he has the temperament to serve on the Supreme Court? Unacceptable. #ibelieveher
from the mountains to the sea...
The moment my alpine refuge came into view after hiking for 10 hours through some of the most challenging and spectacular terrain I’ve ever experienced. High above tree line there was no room for error and it was just the kind of adventure I was seeking to cap off my 32nd year on this incredible planet. Swipe through to see the beauty that is Triglav National Park. Thanks for the memories Slovenia. I hope to come back for more.
Mom climbing her first Via Ferrata two days before her 63rd birthday and me looking like a dummy. But seriously props to my mom for always impressing me with her tenacity and holy crap the Dolomites are breathtaking.
No place I’d rather be than running through golden Aspen groves. The mountains of Colorado are pretty magical in the early fall. It’s been an incredible weekend here with the ladies of @nomanslandfilmfestival. Thank you @inheadlights and @aishaweinhold for your hard work and for bringing so many visionary and dauntless women together. Go see these films!
