Truly fortunate that I was able to be around my favorite people in the world during this weekend when such a frightening and horrific thing happened. Dales un beso y un abrazo a tus seres queridos ❤️❤️❤️
I saw a man walking around my terminal playing a flute for 40min and was losing my mind because I thought it was André 3000. And then it WAS André 3000!!! 😍😍😍😭😭
Freakin’ fire weekend babyyy
Your three public radio tías showed up at coachella and the episode chronicling our adventure is here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/latino-usa/id79681317?i=1000438555190
As the hard working reina de la radio pública @maria_la_hinojosa Hinojosa works on a special project, you will be hearing more of me in the @LatinoUSA’s host chair for the next couple months. My first interview is with Marisol Berrios-Miranda an author of American Sabor. Listen to this music history and try not to sing along! 🎤 Thanks to @sayrequevedo for the next level sound design 💫
❤️❤️Feeling very grateful all the people who’ve danced into 27 with me❤️❤️
Sandra Cisneros likes Frida Barbie 🤣🤣🤣
Happy to announce that it’s official: I am Northwestern’s new mascot. That’s just what happens when you get featured in the Northwestern and Medill magazine. Can’t wait to see Morty dressed like me at the next football game. Go cats!
⚜️⚜️This place is so magical it made us into models. Magic!!!!!!!⚜️⚜️
I know this is a gross basic af take a chill pill pic but I have to post because I am so proud of @tomthakkar who lived out one of his childhood dreams by taping a half hour stand up special for @comedycentral last night💛💛💛. And I want what he did after the taping to be remembered by this moment and not the fact that he ate Flammin’ Hot Doritos of which he took more pics with than me. F’d up!! 🚫🚫🚫
Employer employee twinsiessssss 👯♀️
Las Santa Sara Cereijido’s wish you happy holidays 🌹
Happy birthday to the funniest and kindest person I know (the guy to the left). 🧡
If you are traveling for the holidays and need a podcast to listen to consider learning some indigenous history through the story @latinousa dropped today about Richard Oakes, a leader in the Red Power movement of the 60s. Don’t think of it as a moral obligation because @janicellamoca and I worked super hard to also make it a really entertaining time. Richard Oakes’s family was so lovely to me and I thank them so much for sharing memories of their father with us. Link in bio ✨
This is the religion bang, my NU Latino gang 💥
I interviewed the deeply thoughtful, frank and funny @i__rojascontreras at @the.wing in SF last night. It was such an honor. She is an exceptional writer and you should read her work!
✨mujeres y colegas✨
Ana María Archila is one of the women who confronted Sen. Jeff Flake after he announced he would support Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation. We interviewed her for @latinousa. She said that in her work she tries to establish human connections with our political leaders which is what she says civil rights movements are about: making people in positions of power acknowledge others’s humanity.
‼️cool Mayan temple alert ‼️
Looking through baby pics I realized 1. My parents are actually the cutest people of all time 2. I look very different but my hands have not changed.
👐🏽The fine ladies of Cabin 39👐🏽
📣🔊📢link in bio📢🔊📣 I first heard of Juan Sanchez in June. He is the man who operates the converted Walmart that was housing children torn apart from their parents at the border under the Trump Zero Tolerance policy. So I was shocked when I googled him and found out that he was a Chicano activist that won a bunch of social justice awards for his work with migrant children. Was he was a champion for migrant children or someone profiting off of them? @maria_la_hinojosa and I flew to Austin to meet him and the conversations we had were some of the most perplexing, tense, and thought provoking. Please listen! Working on this story reminded me of how grateful I am to work under someone as compassionate and fearless as Maria. Big big thanks to all the @latinousa friends who helped shape this story @marloniousthunk @ferchiladas @bellexbadham @sayrequevedo
I did a thing for the history channel so I wore most appropriate sleeves I could find. #shakesperianSleeve

This brilliant lady is about to be a tv writer for the NYtimes! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
This week we are airing a story I produced about why even as Latino college enrollment goes up, so is the Latino non-completion rate. I went to Oregon State University to speak to Latino students and see what was making them question leaving. I’m especially excited because I collaborated with @zpvisual who made this gorgeous illustration and with the data team at CSSNY! Link in bio!

Immigrants are very often called “voiceless.” But today my mom was awarded Columbia Teacher’s College Distinguished Alumni Award for her exceptional research and advocacy work that shows we have been looking at this all wrong: all people have a voice and have a right to use it. Through speech and language pathology and developing different model of how to diagnose children my mother has shown leadership by offering a new way to listen. Just because a person doesn’t speak English doesn’t mean that what they have to say is any less important. My mom is definitely the biggest inspiration in my life and influenced me also be a listener in what I do and to help transmit the stories of immigrants. Often they don’t get the opportunity to tell it themselves but rather bear the brunt of others speaking for them and distorting whatever it is their intentions/dreams/hopes are. In a time when immigration is so politicized we can all learn from my mother. Te quiero mucho!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
