The Universe will take you through it long enough to make sure you’ve absorbed the lesson. While it’s happening it can feel like a storm with no end...After wrestling long enough, you find a way to slow it all down and take the time to realize what you are being shown. And at that moment the storm shall pass. You emerge and you prevail. Pictured in the storm by @alexvnderblvck and pictured speaking at the Milken Conference (prevailing) #Loyalty

Monument on Freedom Hill. Completed in 1965 designed by Janez Lenassi & Zivanai Braga-Moskon. As I traveled through Europe the last few years building my medical cannabis firm, I would take trips to these locations and take photos or film footage for artistic projects. All monuments are in remembrance of soldiers lost in WW2 battles. ✨🙏🏽✨

Wow! So Bill Gates just put out a list of 10 breakthrough technologies that will change our collective future for the better. He did this in collaboration with MIT Technology Review (Link in Bio) and my start up Direct Air Capture company (Global Thermostat) was on the list in the ‘Direct Air Capture’ section. I’ve been working on DAC since the early days (when I had an afro) and it was just a small group of research scientists trying to get their relatively tiny research projects off the ground. Now this small scene of misfits is starting to get into the mainstream of consciousness Bill Gates Style. In order to slow down climate change we are going to have to take massive amounts of Co2 out of the atmosphere - widespread acknowledgement of this fact is the first step we as humans must take in order to advance the cause and turn it into reality. These big machines simply do what trees do everyday!!! Blessed & Humbled by this. Thank you ✨✨✨🌿🙏🏽💯 @thisisbillgates and @mitmedialab #DirectAirCapture #DAC #BlackExcellence #Focused

Canada went out and did it. It’s front page news (link in bio). We can all blast Peter Tosh’s “Legalize it” and spark one ✨🌿☝🏾 As an activist who has been working on changing medical cannabis laws since joining the board of Americans for Safe Access in 2010 I’m excited for any law that ensures people don’t go to jail for ingesting a non-lethal plant ✨✨🌿. It’s insane how cannabis was used to largely criminalize and imprison African Americans and Latino men in the United States. And as most people know, the USA has been the architect of this system which we generally call the War on Drugs and the Prison Industrial Complex. It’s an outrage and the system itself has been a lesson in understanding how a backwards legal structure can triumph over reason, basic decency, destroy families and dismantle communities. I’m happy to have been active by changing laws since I got woke on this issue and being on the right side of history. From a moral perspective, as more and more countries legalize cannabis for medical or recreational uses we will have a little less injustice in this world. So that’s good. However, there is still a large problem in the industry in that there are very few African American or people of color in the actual industry. My cannabis investment firm (DGH) happens to be the only majority Black Owned / Female owned firm in the industry. We haven’t been doing press or anything - there will be a time for all of that. Right now it’s heads down work. It’s exciting what’s happening in Canada but it’s always been the viewpoint of our firm that globally, medical markets will be more prevalent than recreational markets. We’ve focused ourselves in that direction which has been exciting, rewarding and should lead to some big hits ✨✨🌿🤙🏾 - It’s also led me to some amazing countries particularly my new favorite South Africa ✨✨✨🌿✊🏾🌍 🇿🇦 // Some people have said to me recently “why are you traveling so much?” And I say to them well “global legalization is only going to happen once!” So you know, Onwards ✨✨🌿✊🏾

Pictured here a few weeks ago with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho and the head of government relations for ICCI. It’s been an amazing journey for me getting involved in medical cannabis. As some of you know I first joined the medical cannabis movement as a board member of Americans for Safe Access in 2010. ASA was founded to protect the interests of patients in 2002 (✨✊🏾). Since then I have carefully studied, learned and participated (through ASA) in the regulatory re-evaluation of cannabis laws. I firmly believe that medical laws and medical regulation is the way this industry must evolve. Recreational cannabis in my view doesn’t tell the whole story about what this plant can do!! That being said, decriminalization is crucially important so we aren’t unjustly incarcerating people for having or using cannabis. I mean that should go without saying. It seems like we are finally getting to the end of that chapter in our history as countries around the world from Lesotho and South Africa to Thailand to Germany are changing their practices in this regard. In this pic I believe we are having a laugh because the Deputy Prime Minister of Lesotho was so cool and I was complimenting his shoes. After this we had a serious discussion about how the Kingdom of Lesotho will operate under strict accordance with the UN Single Treaty Protocols; allowing medical cannabis for medical and research purposes. We discussed the importance of accountability and structural integrity within the new system which also lessens the burden on law enforcement. The trip was amazing and I can’t wait to get back to this fabulous country. #Africa #safeaccess #medicalcannabis
