As the prime minister of her school’s student hygiene club, Sarita and her peers in Kolkata, India, identify WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) challenges and find ways to solve them. In their first month alone, they held a rally to educate students on the importance of safe water, added trash cans to every classroom, and petitioned the local councilor for chlorine tablets to sanitize the school’s water supply. ⠀ Sarita's school will soon have a completed clean water project, but in the meantime, she is emerging as a leader on her campus and a champion for healthy hygiene habits. And we are incredibly inspired by her passion and commitment!
You won’t find anyone more dedicated to ending the water crisis than our local partners. These men and women put so much passion and hard work into every single water project you fund.

After 74-year-old Tadese’s children moved away from home, he and his wife were left fending for themselves. Collecting water, taking care of the livestock, cooking, cleaning. It was a lot to manage— until their 10-year-old grandson, Adane, stepped in. ⠀ “I volunteered to move in with my grandparents because they didn’t have a helper,” Adane told our team. “They do so many things for me. It was in my mind to be with them and help them.” ⠀ Today, Tadese and Adane take care of each other. And thankfully, with clean water nearby, the situation has only improved. “We have transitioned from the darkest life to the brightest life,” Tadese shared. “We have won the lottery.” ⠀ We’re so inspired by families like Tadese’s.
