@iamcardib, thank you for using your voice on an issue that hurts so many families. No one should have to choose between paying a ticket and putting food on the table. The fight goes on. —MLL

✅ Passing new rules to reign in corruption ✅ Passing landmark #FairWorkweek legislation for working families ✅ New 🔥 sauce for the BBQ

chicagosmayor

When you pass landmark legislation that will help hundreds of thousands of Chicago’s working people.

Every child, regardless of skin color, disability, or zip code, deserves the chance to grow up and live happy and fulfilling lives.

As if on *cue*, I was challenged to a game of pool while making sure our residents were safe at City cooling centers over the weekend. 🎱

chicagosmayor

Meet the guy who rescued the alligator known as ‘Chance the Snapper’: Frank Robb. Frank, thank you for coming to Chicago and leading the effort. Later, gator.

chicagosmayor

No matter what is tweeted, I will do everything in my power to protect every Chicagoan.

chicagosmayor

Guess the name of this food. (Hint: it may or may not involve chile powder and lime)

chicagosmayor

In this pic, I’m shaking hands with Finn, the hero who just saved Chicago. Thanks to Finn, Chicago police, firefighters, volunteers, for protecting Chicago from evil-doers at today’s Make-A-Wish Illinois event.

15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was with her friends just after finishing her final exams when gunfire erupted, turning calm into chaos. Hadiya was shot and killed. We #WearOrange to honor her legacy and the lives of Chicagoans and all those who are affected by gun violence every day. There is no higher calling for me as mayor than ensuring safety and peace in our neighborhoods. And I will work tirelessly to make sure that happens.

Every morning crossing guard Roxie Calhoun takes two trains and a bus to get to her post at 6:45 am to make sure St. Benedict students get to school safely. And after 51 years, South Side resident Roxie is putting away her bright neon vest and ’Stop’ sign and going into retirement. Congrats to Roxie on her well-deserved recognition. You're St. Benedict and City of Chicago family will miss you. 📸: St. Benedict Preparatory School

Twin sisters Tia and Tyra Smith are a double dose of excellence. With 4.0 GPAs and full-ride scholarships to top universities, Tia and Tyra have been named Lindblom High’s class of 2019 co-valedictorians. Well done. Keep up the hard work. #TheBestAreWithCPS 👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿 Photo Credit & news story by: @chicagosuntimes

It’s finally feeling like summer, so to celebrate I rolled up my sleeves and got my hands dirty. I’m growing heirloom tomatoes, cauliflower, basil, leeks, spaghetti squash, Italian parsley, spearmint and peppermint (not all pictured). Tell me what’s growing in your garden in the comments! 🌱🍅🥒 . . . . #gardening #gardeninglove #urbangarden

Last night I stopped for a quick bite at one of my favorite Northwest side small businesses, Meson del Taco. If you’re in the neighborhood, I recommend giving it a try—amazing food. 11/10 would eat there again.

We’re ushering in a new renaissance for the Uptown Neighborhood! What a beautiful day to cut the ribbon on the first phase of the Broadway Streetscape Project, marking a major milestone in the revitalization and rebirth of the Uptown Entertainment District. The streetscape project includes new sidewalks, new bike racks and trash receptacles, public art & more. The 2nd phase of the Streetscape project is starting later this month & will extend on Broadway Street from Leland to Wilson Avenues. #BuildingANewChicago #ChiPublicArt #BeautifyingBroadway

Great to speak at #ThriveChicago's 3rd annual convening, and thank you Maria for the wonderful introduction! The most important thing we can do as a city is to give our young people a sense of who they are and what their potential is. Proud that we've tripled youth investments since 2011. #Opportunity4Youth 📸: Walter Mitchell

The gains @ChiPubSchools students have made wouldn't be possible without our incredible teachers. Happy #TeacherAppreciationWeek to all! We appreciate you. 💐 #ThankaTeacher #TheBestAreWithCPS 📸: Brooke Collins

8 years ago, I promised to bring change to Chicago communities and tackle the most pressing problems facing the city. Today, Chicago is in a stronger position than it was in 2011, and remains a vibrant, thriving city to live, work and raise a family. Read more - link in bio. 🔗 movingforward.chicago.gov
