Throw stick. Fetch. Repeat.
I wrote in Vogue Business that haute couture is thriving. I also think that ready to wear labels could learn a lot from listening closely to their real customers. That requires making a real effort but it’s the sort of work that pays off.
I came expecting a fashion party and discovered an art party with @louisvuitton . The bag USA collaboration with the artist Tschabalala Self.
I have never laughed so hard while reporting a story as for this, on the perils and dreams of owning your own hotel. For the @robbreport
Just another day at the office.
Love my city.
Kinda blown away by Claire Waight Keller’s suiting for Givenchy last night. Her first men’s show, shown here at Pitti.
I love the LA art scene.
The ladies are curious.
Oh come on, it’s not that bad.
Each time you decide to check email, your body responds with its fight-or-flight mechanism, anticipating that something wild may be prowling in your inbox. Your adrenal glands emit cortisol, your body’s main stress hormone. Your heart rate and blood pressure rise. ... So really, what’s not to love about email? My latest in the Robb Report’s Muse magazine.
I interviewed Maye Musk for the March issue of C Magazine and now I have no further questions about her son Elon. On newsstands now.
Happy 20th Birthday @har_perr ! I love you wider than the sky!
I loved how Karl Lagerfeld was so often surrounded by friends (though he struck me as a lonely man). I shot this at the haute couture shows in July 2013. RIP
The backlot at Paramount Studios has become a street art fair for FriezeLA ! There are restaurants, a psychic, and MatchesFashion set up a boutique, there in the back of the photo, that is packed.
It was supposed to be a marriage made in heaven but it ended in a quickie divorce. I took a deep dive into what happened between #CalvinKlein and Raf Simons for the @latimes .you can find it on the paper’s home page right now.
Mood. My flight was three-hours delayed out of LAX.
When The Guardian asked me who Miriam Adelson is, and why she won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, I realized that like most Americans, I had no idea, even tho I wrote a substantial book on Las Vegas. So I reported it out. The answer is that she is a force to be reckoned with. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jan/07/meet-dr-miriam-adelson-the-record-breaking-republican-donor-driving-trumps-israel-policy
I’m going to be a lone wolf here and overlook Lady Gaga to give Best Dressed at the #GoldenGlobes to Sandra Oh. The red Versace is an ode to perfect fit and tailoring. And the white Stella McCartney evokes pure unadulterated Hollywood glamour. Bravo, stylist Elizabeth Salzman.
Having my say with @cnn on what Melania told us about herself with her fashion in 2018. You can find it at CNN.com/Style
Feels about right.
Umm, @har_perr , bad news. Roddy is pretty serious about this goalie thing. If you were on Twitter I’d show you the video.
Nothing more beautiful than LA in the rain.
Sneak peek! My cover story on the Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy comes out tomorrow in the @latimes ‘ @designlamag winter issue. The shoot took place in the gardens of Margaret and Wesley Morgan Phoa, who generously invited us to hang clothes from their olive trees, drape them on bushes, and adorn their Hermes statue in a crimson gown. 🙏
I'm on it. #RakeAmericaGreatAgain
It’s out tomorrow!!! (Link in bio.)
MOCA is re-installing this 1990 giant wall work by Barbara Kruger “Untitled (Questions)”. It’s like time stood still - so relevant today.
Miu Miu denim.
I think these are my favorite colors in the Louis Vuitton series.
Moody at Hermes.
Something melancholy about the model exiting at Commes des Garçons
One of my favorite pieces from @altuzarra today. It took all the elements of his spring collection - and his signature peekaboo look - into fine tailoring.
Backstage: Hedi Slimane responds to praise from LVMH founder Bernard Arnaud after his debut at Celine.
Karl Lagerfeld, eager to congratulate Hedi Slimane after his Celine debut.
My latest piece in @wsjmag is on Rick Caruso , creator of the influential The Grove in Los Angeles, and the would-be fixer of the American retail experience with his go-local approach. Also, he’s a possible future LA mayor. Link in bio.
