What do you see in the clouds? ☁️☁️☁️ ⁣ ⁣ These spiraling cloud patterns off the coast of Morocco were captured by our @NASAEarth instrument on the Suomi NPP satellite on July 19, 2019. This rounded object isn't something seen through a microscope. Instead, it's a vast orb of gas in space, cast off by an aging star and seen by the @NASAHubble telescope. The star is visible in the orb's center, shining through the gases it formerly held onto for most of its stellar life. When stars like the Sun grow advanced in age, they expand and glow red. These so-called red giants then begin to lose their outer layers of material into space. More than half of such a star's mass can be shed in this manner, forming a shell of surrounding gas. At the same time, the star's core shrinks and grows hotter, emitting ultraviolet light that causes the expelled gases to glow. Image credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, R. Flying through a fire cloud ☁️🔥☁️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ This photo from roughly 30,000 ft (9 km) shows how smoke particles reflect light in ways that make the Sun appear blazing orange. Our DC-8 flying laboratory passed directly through a large fire cloud — called a pyrocumulonimbus — on August 8 as it was rising from a fire in eastern Washington, giving scientists a look at the phenomena. These clouds form when the intense heat of wildfires lift the smoke above the boundary layer, the lowest part of Earth's atmosphere.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The flight was part of a joint NOAA and NASA field campaign called FIREX-AQ. Scientists are studying the composition and chemistry of smoke to better understand its impact on air quality and climate.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ NASA Earth Observatory image credit: NASA/Joshua Stevens⁣⁣ Photography credits: U.S. Naval Research Laboratory/David Peterson⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ #nasa #wildfires #science #clouds #fires #ourplanet

As the @NASAHubble telescope turned its eye on Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, an Earth-sized storm rolling counterclockwise between two bands of clouds, it noticed something unusual. Can you tell what it is? 🤔⁣ ⁣ The color palette in the clouds is more intense than usual. The colorful bands, which flow in opposite directions at various latitudes, result from different atmospheric pressures. Lighter bands rise higher and have thicker clouds than the darker bands. The intensity of the colors reveals important clues about the planet’s turbulent atmosphere. ⁣ ⁣ Click the link in the bio for more info ⬆️⁣ ⁣ Credits: NASA, ESA, A. No, this red beam in space isn't a light saber! It's a galaxy, far, far away — 44 million light-years away, to be exact. We often imagine galaxies as having massive spiral arms or thick disks of dust, but not all galaxies are oriented face-on as viewed from Earth. From our viewpoint, our Spitzer Space Telescope can detect this galaxy's infrared light but can only view the entire galaxy on its side where we can't see its spiral features. We know it has a diameter of roughly 60,000 light-years — a little more than half the diameter of our own Milky Way galaxy. Bright, colorful pockets of star formation are blooming in this spiral galaxy just under 70 million light-years away, seen by the @NASAHubble Space Telescope. The orange-pink glow is created as hydrogen gas reacts to the intense light streaming outwards from nearby newborn stars. These bright patches can be seen here amid dark, tangled streams of cosmic dust. Astronomers look for these telltale signs of star formation when they study galaxies throughout the cosmos, as star formation rates, locations, and histories offer critical clues about how these colossal collections of gas and dust have evolved over time. New generations of stars contribute to — and are also, in turn, influenced by — the broader forces and factors that mold galaxies throughout the universe, such as gravity, radiation, matter, and dark matter. Feeling a little salty about the weekend being too short? 😤 ⁣ ⁣ If so, you're not alone when it comes to #SaltyVibes. The yellow color visible on the surface of Jupiter's moon Europa is actually sodium chloride — table salt. ⁣ Flybys from our Voyager and Galileo spacecraft have led scientists to conclude that:⁣ 1️⃣ Europa is covered by a layer of salty liquid water encased in an icy shell⁣ 2️⃣ Europa’s ocean may resemble Earth's oceans more than previously thought.⁣ ⁣ Credit: NASA/@NASAJPL/@UArizona ⁣ ⁣ #WeekendMood #OutOfThisWorld #Jupiter #NASA

Only the good die young. ⁣ ⁣ When massive stars die at the end of their short lives, they light up the cosmos with bright, explosive bursts of light and material known as supernovae. ⁣ ⁣ This spiral galaxy — captured by @NASAHubble Space Telescope — has hosted multiple supernovae in past years.

Happy #FlagDay! ⁣ ⁣ One of the most iconic images from the #Apollo11 mission is of Buzz Aldrin saluting the American flag on the surface of the Moon. But did you know that over the next three years, five more flags joined the one left by Apollo 11 — and that many other flags have flown onboard our spacecraft? ⁣ ⁣ Scroll through and read the comments to learn about stars and stripes in space!⁣ ⁣ Image Credit 1-8: NASA⁣⁣ ⁣ #NASA #Space #Moon⁣

Você mora no meu coração porque me tira boas gargalhadas... . Fim...

. #ÉTudoUmaIlusao #QueTriste #NaoÉUmPoder #ÉPuraIlusao #FonteLentesEOculos

Praticando o equilíbrio: Comendo meu peixinho e tomando meu drink! Kkkkk . .

Coloquei o link no STORIES!

#FelizDiaInternacionalDasMulheres
