Videos of the girls riding at Gigi’s and Papa’s. First is Cora, who refused to ride for years and is now cantering on ol’ Duke. Second video is Yumi trotting the cross rails like a champ. Come on now!
T E N • Y E A R S Then and now. A blink of an eye that feels like it’s been forever. My best decision and greatest gift of grace. We still haven’t figured out how to decide where to eat or how to keep the house organized but that’s for another 10 years. Here’s to forever @hank ❤️
Still feels like a dream.
Mykonos summer vibes.
42. Full heart and open to all of the possibilities this year holds. Let’s go!
Summertime in the south of France. Diner en blanc. Je t’aime.
First day of preschool and last day of preschool for the 2018-2019 school year. I’d say we made progess 😍
When @hank and I were friends, I tried setting him up with my friends and told them he’d be a great husband and an incredible dad. Not only did I end up with him all for myself, but I was right. There is no one quite like this guy. His love and loyalty and commitment and ethic are unmatched. Thank you for choosing us every day and making our dreams come true. You are our one and only.
Last day of first grade! Can not begin to describe how much Cora grew this year in every aspect. She has been a marvel to watch. Piano, tennis, tying shoes, losing teeth, making friends, sharing her feelings...and the most supportive teachers investing in her. She does not want to go to 2nd grade 😂 We are going to have the best summer together!
Birthday girl is 7!
S E V E N !!! She is not of this world. If you know her, then you know. She has always been kind and wise and aware beyond her years. She is our world.
This picture captures this particular season of sisterhood for these two. They are loving and sweet and best of friends. So far my most favorite season of motherhood. @Hank and I keep pinching ourselves.
Spring break in Ohio. Spreading poop is Cora’s favorite activity. We spent every day in the barn, caring for all of the animals (2 dogs, 2 guinea pics, 3 rabbits, 2 tortoises, 8 horse and a few cats). Wish we had pictures of the actual humans we love and spent time with 😬 We had the best time and counting the days until summer...
Went off grid with the other first grade families and spent the weekend splashing in puddles, eating s’mores, catching up with friends, and watching the girls play outside of their usual element. It was good for us to be entirely unhurried. So grateful for our community and that my girls love an adventure!
2019 family dance at school. They went just the two of them and had a blast. We smiled and said isn’t this so fun and dressed up but we’re basically weeping inside from the brutiful love of watching your baby suddenly be a 6 year old grown up. @hank These are the moments. Please also note he’s wearing the friendship bracelet she made him! ❤️
Our trip to Naples to spend time with the big fam. So grateful to have married into this family ❤️ and for my girls to have such precious people in their lives.
Happy New Year! I forgot to post this one but had to post it now because look at this family of mine! We rang in the new year and I was a sappy, nostalgic, grateful puddle. 2018 was an amazing year for us. Excited to chill in 2019 😂 Clearly @charlottefocho has all the feels too.
We are all the luckiest that you were born. You have impacted and inspired so many people in your life through your words, friendship, and relentless commitment to make the world better. You make our world go round. We will follow you anywhere. You are our biggest champion, cheerleader, and you never hold back your love for us. I know this year will be full of joy for you. Happy birthday @Hank ❤️
These sisters are the best. They complement each other while also being yin and yang. They are friends and partners and kindred spirits. Though I have resisted it at many times, they are my teachers. I can’t even believe they chose me.
Last day of 2018. It has been one crazy adventure of a year with twists I couldn’t have expected. Saw the best and worst of myself and stretched and grew. I tried to focus on what mattered and be present. I failed at many things but overall I’m leaving this year feeling proud and completely filled up. Onward.
Reindeer’s driving Santa this year. Merry Christmas! 🌲
7am Christmas morning. Dreams coming true...
Christmas Eve 2018. The girls were excited for Santa and looks like he arrived...🌲
Cora, age 6, at her first piano recital. She played “Aloute” and “Best Friends” on a 9ft piano. Just the sweetest sound you ever did hear.
Taking one day to celebration adoption and all those touched by adoption. Though there is much pain, sorrow and loss intertwined in the story, I believe it’s important to celebrate the beauty, family, and joy that is created! Thank you to everyone who has opened their hearts to love and choose someone as their family. Also I promise everyone in our family is excited about the day, even if a certain mama put on the bandaid incorrectly. #worldadoptionday #worldadoptionday2018
Waited until these girls got out of school so we could vote together. Our polling volunteers were so kind and showed them every step of the process. We waited in line and saw all kinds of people standing up for their convictions. Someone came in and brought donuts and coffee for the volunteers. But the best was feeling hopeful about a more beautiful future for these ladies of mine.
First day of First Grade. I can’t even handle it. Her face. Her heart. Her laugh. Her kindness. Also didn’t think I could love her more and yet my heart keeps expanding! She is my compass and my teacher. My Cora. (Photo by daddy @hank )
Bye Summer 2018! We celebrated with dinner and a walk down memory lane. It was a summer full of adventure, travel, family, slow mornings, and play. Cora learned to swim and became curious about tennis. Yumi’s love of horses grew and I think she became an actual horse. The girls and I had tons of time together, and we all love @Hank even more. Got all the ❤️feels going on over here.
Love x infinity...
Happy birthday to my sweet Robin! You are one of a kind. Spontaneous, fun, thoughtful, best gift giver, and one of only card writers I know. May this new year bring you opportunities for deeper faith, unparalleled joy, and peace that passes all. Love you little sis! (Photo @hank )
Her most favorite summer ever.
Taking it to the next level.
Celebrating 9 years of marriage to this man. We are so different in nearly every aspect of life and also in just how we human. We have gone through so many transitions, peaks and valleys. It is actually amazing that we arrive at 9 today when it feels like 90. We have arrived here by walking together in the same direction. In the direction of love and sacrifice and risk and vulnerability. It has been a journey home. I will always be by your side. With our girls. Forever. @hank
Allll the 😍😍😍 Catching her in her favorite spots, at her favorite time of day. 📸 taken with love by dad, @hank
41 and feeling free... (Ps this was me watching fireworks. If you know me, you know how I get). Grateful for so much and looking forward to even more.
“I love horses bigger than anything ever.” She said she wants to ride Duke every day forever and never go home. 😍
This memory forever. Duke the Pony, 25 years old + Cora the Brave, 6 years old.
Summer Vibes. No better way than to end the day with bath and s’mores! Also, they look so big here in this pic and I can’t take it.
She’s really into playing horse these days. She brings her imaginary horse with her wherever we go. She ties him up at restaurants and leads him through the airport. But often she IS the horse. And here she is playing the horse while on a horse. As you do.
My heart bursting and broken and exposed and full and expanding all at once. I could have never dreamed her up. Can’t even imagine all of who she will become!
MyCora girl and her favorite guys. The look on her face melts me. #yestheyarekindergarteners
