Every year, during my birthday week, I leave all sort of technology at home (yes, even my camera) and head to the mountains with my family and Ben 🐶 not gonna lie, I always look forward to this moment. During this week, I do nothing but enjoy the view in front of me and whatever is happening in that moment. I do not think about past or future, I am finally able to focus on the present and nothing else. I don’t miss out on the moment because I want to take a picture or a video, even if that’s for myself, I somewhat miss out on it. Yes, I have it on my screen for good but did I really live it? Did I really enjoy it with my eyes during that exact moment? Every year I wish this week never comes to an end. But we always have to get back to technology, for one reason or another. But every time, it teaches me little by little that sometimes, you need to just drop everything and enjoy the present. With yourself or whoever is there with you.
Tomorrow marks another journey around the sun And since mountains mean so much to me, here’s a photo taken from a mountain peak facing layers and layers of other mountains As long as I will see mountains, even in the distance, I always feel at home. Tomorrow marks a year of travels, new adventures and new friends, but also new challenges and milestones. I don’t know what’s gonna happen in the next chapter, but I know there will be mountains. 🏔
A few minutes before the sky exploded and it suddenly became one of my favorite sunrises ever. Thanks @silviobergamo for embracing the cold and cruising around Maligne Lake for a little longer 🛶
Sunset glory in one of the most beautiful places with my favorite furry friend 🐶🏔
Pro life tip: always notice the little things, even in the biggest landscapes, just like a little blue flower by the trail. 🏔🌸
I have been home for about a month now and I feel like the road is calling my name. I am starting to plan a few trips for September / October / November .. any suggestions? Mountains are a must. As always 🏔
Walking among the giants 🏔 Thanks to @collincreates for walking in the middle of the road to give the perfect sense of scale with Mr. Half Dome in the background.
Hiking with my favorite pup in my favorite place 🏔 although this was our fifth day in a row hiking for several hours every day, he still seemed to enjoy the outdoor life. Probably knowing that a cozy tent and sleeping bag were waiting for us soon ⛺️🏔🦊🐶
Waking up in a cave at 2450m (8040 ft) in the middle of the mountains, not bad, not bad. 🏔⛺️
Enjoy the morning breeze in one of my favorite places on Earth 🏔☀️ where’s yours?
Taking in the beauty of nature on a foggy summer morning 🏔
Totally didn’t change from my very basic dirty clothes after one week stuck in a van into my only clean flannel just for this shot. As I said, I didn’t. But in case I did, thank you @lifewithelliott for capturing such a unique moment 📸✨
I love when on a road trip, you lose the sense of time and place. You forget for how long you’ve been driving, what day it is, and sometimes your location too. When you finally decide to put all the maps away and just drive wherever you feel like. I like when you forget about where and when and just focus on the moment, yourself, and the people around you.
After hiking for an hour and a half on a steep hidden trail under the midday sun, with snakes popping out from all over the places, and spiders of dubious size, we finally made it to this hidden heaven. All I wanted was to relax in this hot spring, enjoy the sun, and the best @modernoats oatmeal that I specifically prepared for that moment. Also, cheers to Modern Oats for making every single breakfast so easy and quick to make while still being tasty and nutritious, especially when constantly on the road! 🚚
☀️ Happy first day of summer! ☀️ Can’t wait for more camping nights sleeping under millions and millions of stars ✨
Anyone wants to play? ⚽️ I wonder how many soccer balls have gone lost in the water 🤔
Changing the “known” perspective of Yosemite National Park a bit. Hiked to this place at sunset while being eaten alive by hundreds of mosquitos. Definitely worth it 🔥🏔
Keep your head up ✨ And yes, all of these stars are real. And yes, you could see all of them with your bare eyes. And yes, it was unbelievable. And yes, you can rent that amazing van by @escapecampervans .
The snow is finally almost all gone and flowers are starting to pop up everywhere. Summer season aka hiking season is right around the corner! 😍🏔🐶
Pictured: a beautiful seashore landscape at sunrise Not pictured: the strong wind that almost took us directly all the way down to the beach with one jump 💨 Cheers to @glampinghub for always finding the best accommodations nearby the most breathtaking sceneries! ✨
The past week in Alaska has been messing up with my sleep schedule, I thought never ending sunlight would be fun but .. not when you have to sleep 😂 jokes aside, it made me think about my trip to Lofoten and how much we treasured those 3 hours of day light. Two completely different worlds, but equally just as beautiful ☀️⭐️
All I want in life is to be brave enough to drop off everything that makes me unhappy, and move to a place that makes life really worth living. Like an airplane. In the middle of nowhere. Just because I feel like it. ✈️
Just made it back to Seattle after an insane weekend in the Bay Area. We were very lucky with the weather and got the chance to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Shoutout to the best San Francisco tour guide @heykelseyj for taking me around and showing me the best places to shoot AND eat (low key most important part). Until next time North Cal 👋🏻
Been off the grid for a little while after flying back to Seattle from Denver. My road trip has come to an end but more adventures are on the agenda. Currently boarding on my flight to San Francisco for a few days on the Bay before heading back to the PNW for a mountain-full-immersion journey. 🏔🌲
Driving among the giants 🌲 The tallest tree in the world is located in this national park, a coast redwood of 115 meters (379 feet) 😱 It was lots of fun driving around with our eyes up on board of our colorful van from @escapecampervans 🚚😍
Make a wish ✨ There is nothing like enjoying a sky full of stars in the middle of nowhere. 🚚
The days are getting longer, brighter, and warmer. Time for some vanlife adventures 🚚☀️
Finally back to the States for another big road trip 🇺🇸 this is from last year’s trip across California / Nevada / Utah / Arizona. 🚚
Jumping into spring 💐🌸 Behind the shot: right as I took this shot, I realized @nathanaelbillings and @adamjramer were standing right next to me. I’ve been trying to meet up with Adam for a long time but it never worked out. And then, randomly, we ended up in the same place, at the same time. Life’s unpredictable, which adds up to its beauty. 🌼
Sunset mission back in Germany 🇩🇪 Currently posting from the baggage claim at Seattle airport. Stopping in the city for a few days and then off to Denver in a van across 9 States for two weeks 🚚🇺🇸
Morning glory in Germany ✨ Looks like the snow is finally melting and the flowers are starting to grow! 😍☀️💐
On a cold night of September back in Canada. The sky was crystal clear and the water so firm the I could see the stars shining on it. One of the most peaceful and perfect moments of the entire trip. ✨
I remember being barely able to look through the view finder while taking this shot. My lens kept fogging up because of the harsh rain and strong wind. I was laying on the ground trying to get that low perspective without a proper rain jacket and I could feel the water soaking in. But then there it was. My favorite shot of the day, honestly, maybe even of the entire trip.
Running back to the cabin before the rainstorm 🏃🏻♂️ .. It’s what you’d say in an instagram - parallel - world .. in real life it’s more like “drive in the middle of a storm, get out of the car, pretend to be doing something in front of a cabin, run back to the car, drive back to your actual cabin, heat up some frozen pizza” 🏠🇳🇴
Manual for the perfect set up on a snowy day: - candles - big windows - wooden cabin - your favorite book - a big puffy blanket
One of the last winter shots of the season. A sort of celebration in honor of my favorite season ❄️ There is nothing like the sound of fresh snow cracking below your feet in the middle of nowhere. And there is nothing like feeling soft snowflakes falling on your face with absolute silence around you ☃️
After hail, snow, and rain, the sunlight finally made it through the clouds. ☀️ Not pictured: the 70 km/h wind blowing directly on our faces 💨🌪
That night we came back home soaking wet. It didn’t stop raining for the entire day but that didn’t stop us from going out and explore the area. We were exhausted, cold, and wet. As we walked back to our cabin, we noticed how the blue hour created the perfect dreamy scenario with the soft lights of the cabins reflected on the ground. A magical moment to end a long, but amazing day. 🇳🇴
My favorite kind of road .. especially when I get car sick veeeeeery easily 😂 but still, getting out of the car at that altitude made me feel better and definitely worth the trip 🚗🙌🏻
Knocking on Norwegian red cabin’s doors to find affordable food other than frozen pizza and tuna cans. Next time I’ll bring a few kilos of pasta from Italy with me 😅🇳🇴
I watched them from far away trying to set up their tent despite the strong wind for over half an hour. I really think they weren’t going to make it but they did. No one knows if they flew away during the night but. Must have been a crazy experience regardless 🤷♀️
I wonder how many different kind of beings are living in this deep blue lake 🤷♀️ probably many. With weird eyes too 😱👀🧟♂️🧞♀️
🌸 Welcome back Spring 🌸 Can’t wait for warmer and longer days. Not gonna lie, I’m gonna miss the snow a little bit but the never ending colorful flowers will definitely make up for it. ☀️
Driving from winter straight into spring tomorrow. Wish I had the chance to see more snow this year as that’s my favorite environment but, it’s okay, I’ll make up for it next year. Ready for some warmer weather and flowers everywhere now 🌸🏔
Rolling through the Norwegian roads surrounded by never ending beauty. The guys asked me run in the middle of the road while it was freezing cold. So I grabbed my @aftershokz and sprinted along the street with The Fleet Foxes playing in the background to warm me up. You can see how @luca_castagnini_ got curious and tried them out too afterwards 😂 You can get $50 off on their new Adventure Bundle with code “PIANTONI50” at aftershokz.com 🙌🏻
We were on our way back to the cabin. We had a successful day, bright blue sky and northern lights at night. I remember stopping on the side of the road to let another car pass as roads in Lofoten tend to be quite narrow most of the times. As the car passed, I looked up and screamed. The sky was literally dancing. Yes, we had just spent over an hour photographing the northern lights at another location but oh my, this was a whole new level of brightness. Unfortunately, I was not able to catch the main moment as I was too busy trying to realize what was going on. The lights kept on going for a little longer, not as bright, but still breathtaking. ✨
The norther lights Kp index was incredibly strong that night. We decided to wait at Gimsøy for the sky to clear up for nothing, clouds on clouds. We sat in the car for a long time, while @niklaskoessel was finishing up his 1kg of salmon in the backseat 😂🐳 Hopeless, I got out of the car and took a few shots of the church. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure something was happening behind the clouds 👀🌌🌠
It might not be the most amazing norther lights shot you’ve seen, but it’s very very special for me. It was the first time I actually got to see the northern lights. We randomly stopped in an unknown location (which we later on found out it’s one of the most famous beaches in Lofoten) and waited in the car. All of a sudden, we saw people rushing towards the beach, we look up and there it was, dancing in the sky. A moment I will never forget.
From the only successful sunset mission we did in Lofoten. But I must say that the view was so breathtaking that it made up for the following 7 days of rain. 🏔❄️
Weekend escape in the perfect arctic fisherman’s cabin with a boat, vinyls, and a few kilos of pasta. 🏡❄️🛶🍝
