Toy in tool or tool in toy? #Inequality has a bitter taste but this child doesn’t know. The sweetness of his life comes from his mother’s spade. On my way to Starbucks in #Mumbai's Nariman Point last evening, I saw this mother-child duo. The child was playing with the spade with an interest, concentration and joy that is hard to imagine. I paused to take a few pictures, the bitterness of this injustice growing within. On his part, the child was completely unaware of me, he was one with the spade. Joyous. Blissed out. Today, a tool of toil for his mother has become a toy for this child. And if the vicious cycle of inequality does not end, tomorrow could see this toy becoming a tool.

A minute ago, #Pondy's Beach Road was full of morning walkers. One shower and this troika of nut sellers is all that's left - all of us disappeared into the safety of buildings.

I wonder what made this trio brave the rain and waves of the #Pondy sea today

And while enjoying the #Pondicherry sea, don't miss the sky - reflected in this pot holding a delightful lily, silently announcing its presence to all who care to listen.

In #Pondicherry it is not unusual to see three, sometimes four, colours of the sea. Like this afternoon - muddy green near the shore, turquoise in the middle and finally marine blue at the fringes.
