“During my childhood, I was bullied a lot for being one of the darkest in the school. I always felt ashamed to walk past groups of the black schoolboys at bus stops because they always had something to say which left me feeling diminished. They were always so silly and creative with the insults, too, “OI she’s blacker than the bottom of my air force 1”, “yo she’s burnt like toast”… the list goes on and on.” @breerunway writes about her experience with colourism. We hope you all received the grades you have worked towards. On days like today it’s important to know that if you didn’t receive certain grades YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. Results do not define you. #resultsday

Resilience Lives In Women - iPhone notes edition A bit about the piece : I felt compelled to write about the topic of resilience because I always mention the word when I talk about women or write about women, the word and feeling is so personal to me. I see it every single day displayed by women in many different ways. I also wanted to write something for this publication to reach women because I want them to know they can survive anything and recognising resilience and the power of it is imperative in helping women. Submission from @ygmegs
I am resilient. I still bloom After storms After fires After drought Broken, But not hopeless. I am resilient. It’s not that scar That pound That mark That down; Because I still bloom. I flourish In darkness Because I am light, Because I am, Resilient. Submission from - Bonnie Dundee

She had no idea. No idea of what was ahead. No idea of how much she would grow. She used to cry herself to sleep, thinking that this life wasn’t enough for her. She would pray, to god, to whomever was listening, to make her strong, make her happier. If only she knew that this life was meant for her. Without her the world would be lost. She stood up for herself. She is still growing. Photo taken by @doraduna Words and photo of - @isoldhalldorudottir #isoldhalldorudottir #fatgirloncam #mentalhealth
Jaden (@c.yresmith) is an excellent example of much young people care for this world and want to make the world a better place. At 21 Jaden has launched @ILoveYouRestaurant a pop up food truck which serves healthy vegan food for free. Jaden is also the founder of @Just. This year Just set up a water filtration system in Flint, a machine which will bring 10 gallons of clean water a minute to an area which still has no clean water. Not only that but Just Water Cartons are recyclable, 54% paper, 28% plant-based plastic and 3% aluminium!
Submission from @annaa.maee- I wrote this at just sixteen. Alone. Wishing I would stay in the dream. But it did not last long. Like anything, it changed And we disappeared but we see each other very day which hurts I used to cry everyday Holding onto every single memory Trying to recall anything that I could To just relive it again Now I see her everyday It hurts But I feel as though I am stronger Stronger and better It is still painful Now she has a boyfriend I think I will get over it soon I just want Her To know That I loved you I never got to tell you, we were too busy being frightened of everyone else but most of all, ourselves

For many, university is the last time they will be in the education system...so what next? @niamhelizabethbell writes As with school, there are so many things you are not taught at university, and often these things slap you in the face once you start a 9-5 job. For example, you cannot take daily naps at 3:30pm when you’re in an office. Making friends is so much harder than just sitting next to each other in a lecture theatre. Interviews are fucking terrifying. And a lot of people are just casually racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic etc etc. This last one was the weirdest for me. I forgot that I had been in an echo chamber at university. Then I started working and had to explain to people that the rights of trans people are not something that we can just debate over our morning coffee. So if you are about to leave the comfort of university and you’re wondering what to expect, keep an open mind and prepare to use the phrase ‘GENDER IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT’ a lot.
START WITH YOURSELF. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Stop spreading yourself thin, say no or ask for a longer deadline if you need to. Stop putting self care at the bottom of your to do list. Yes self care has become a buzzword but it is IMPORTANT. Figure out what helps you feel like yourself and schedule in time to do it. Wake up an hour earlier if you need to to complete it. Look after you. 🎨- @subliming.jpg

Yesterday was the premiere of a much anticipated 9 month project that my best friend @felix_cooper and I embarked on. ‘Spit Fire Dream Higher’ is a story of determination, following 7 girls from all corners of the world. Through Felix’s authentic and intimate lense, he shows us how important it is to be part of a sisterhood and community, what support feels like within a family and team and what passion looks like when you’re head over heels in love with Football. Words wouldn’t give justice to this one of a kind film, I’m speechless in describing the pride I feel for Felix and what he has created. Thank you to the 200 people who came and supported yesterday, to @nike for the continuous support, to Isla, spike and @somesuchandco for all their hard work, to @nadi9nadim for her beautiful narration. And most importantly to Londiwe, Rose, Odette, Zerina, Kristina, Ikranur and Precious for trusting in us, telling their beautiful stories, and evoking so much inspiration in all of us. PLEASE WATCH, PLEASE SHARE- (Link In Bio) I LOVE YOU FELIX.

When was the last time you felt truly present? When was the last time you tried something new, something out of your comfort zone, and felt a surge of anticipation instead of anxiety? In what ways can you become more present in your everyday life? What aspects of your life could you afford to be a little bit braver in? What’s something new you could try this week? Be it a new recipe, a new perfume, meditation, yoga, skydiving, witchcraft. Whatever it is, try to approach it the way you would have when you were younger. In the words of cellist Pablo Casals: ‘In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. You have the capacity for anything.’ So why not go out and live to that full potential? - @sarah.diver. Swipe up in stories to read Sarah’s piece! #gurlstalkyouth
