@JillianBell has played a pimp, a drug dealer, and a brawling college student—but her new film @brittanyrunsmov pushed her the farthest. Instead of simply memorizing lines, she immersed herself in Brittany’s world, which meant taking up running and going on an emotional journey all her own. “I fell in love with who she was from the page and just wanted to make sure I showed that as best as I could,” she says of her self-imposed decision to train like Brittany. @PoseOnFX is nominated for a whopping six(!!) Emmys, which has @MJRodriguez7 feeling optimistic. “Next year, we're going to get even more nominations,” she says. “I know for sure. I'm speaking that into existence. It’s time for a woman like me to be seen, in the light I need to be seen in and I’m taking advantage of that now. I used to be scared. I used to be afraid to say it, but listen, I got to speak for somebody and there's a lot of us out here, but there needs to be more. I'm glad that I can be one of those women speaking for my community of all diasporas. Pose is putting it on the right platform and I want to take the world by storm.” 🙌 More from the powerhouse at the link in bio.
“I really relate to Bernadette even more so than when I initially was shooting [Where’d You Go Bernadette] because since I shot the film, I became a mom,” says Troian Bellisario. “An ongoing journey for me is trying to identify who I am now that I'm a mom. I knew who I was before I had my daughter; I had these things that I really worked hard to incorporate into my life — being an artist, forming a relationship with my husband. Now that I'm somebody's mom, it's amazing, but it changes everything,” she tells @SamanthaSutton. “I really relate to Bernadette in that she cares so much for her family, and she's so wrapped up in being a mother that there are parts of her identity that have fallen away and she's trying to find a way to get back to them.” More from @sleepinthegardn on the film and motherhood at the link in bio. | Photographed by @coletteaphoto; Styled by @annabelleharron
While scouring storage units to hunt down 25 of the most iconic dresses of the red carpet, @ericwilsonsays and @sambroekema found a lot of neat surprises along the way. One of their favorites? A crystal frog sewn into the lining of @LupitaNyongo's @prada dress from the 2014 Academy Awards, where she won an Oscar for 12 Years a Slave. (Swipe to see!) Stylist @Micaela Erlanger says the frog was a totem adopted by Lupita's family. "She wanted to have the frog represented in her dress as a symbol of having her family close to her." “It’s not like we are waiting for a good idea,” said Senator @KamalaHarris at the Presidential Gun Sense Forum over the weekend. “What we lack is the United States Congress to act.” Sixteen presidential candidates came together in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday to discuss their plans to end gun violence (including universal background checks, banning assault weapons, passing “red flag” laws, and cutting off the NRA’s influence on Washington) in front of an audience of more than 600 survivors and advocates. “Go grunge or go home!” @TheLadyDockers jokes to @LauraBrown99 after recreating the signature ‘90s look for our September issue. “I think that may be my favorite shoot of all time. I was in Dr. Martens, which I used to wear. I was a grunger,” she recalls. “My mom used to make a lot of our clothes when we were growing up, and when I got to that grunge phase, she would make my skirts. That was her way of going, ‘I’ll make it look pretty and not really horrendous as if you just bought it from Camden Market and it’s dragging on the floor.’” Swipe for more images, and read the full story at the link in bio. | Photographed by @robbiefimmano; Styled by @juliavonboehm; Story by @laurabrown99
She plays a ‘20s flapper on @downtonabbey_official, so who would have guessed that @theladydockers is secretly into ‘90s grunge? “I was 13, 14. I was completely obsessed with Alanis Morissette. When I went to bed, I’d put two braids in and then take them out in the morning so my hair would wave just like hers. I’d wear white shirts and jeans and just want to be her. I was also really into Green Day and Nirvana,” she tells @laurabrown99. Naturally, we had to style her up as a grown up “grunger” for our special September subscriber cover. I’m living my life.” More with Cameron at the link in bio. #InStyle25 | Photographed by @camillaarmbrust; Styled by @rebeccarams
Thinking about my BIG plans for the night like
Some people use masking as a form of self-care, some people take baths, and some people (aka @Zendaya) prefer to curl up and watch Harry Potter. "People say I'm crazy, but I watch Harry Potter, like, once a day. It's just calming to me, so that's my thing," she says in our September issue. "People are like, 'Oh my god, Harry Potter again?' I say, 'Don't come over to my house if you don't want to watch it, because it's going to be on.'" "Get drug prices down, improve infrastructure, tackle the opioid crisis," ticks off @AmyMcGrathKY when discussing the work that needs to be done in Washington. The former Marine fighter pilot and 44-year-old mother of three from Kentucky is running for Senate against Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. “My dream was only to serve my country... We need good people to step up and run and take on these individuals that are completely bought off." Click the link in bio to learn more about her. #InStyleBadassWomen

“If I could go back in time to give myself one piece of advice at my first InStyle cover shoot, I would tell myself to enjoy it. Enjoy this ride you’re on—and hold on tight,” @KerryWashington says in our September issue. “I’ve learned to not apologize for things that don’t require an apology, like being a woman or a person of color. I’m unapologetic for who I am, where I’m from, and what I believe. Now I just stand in the truth of me and live.” Click the link in bio for more. #InStyle25 | Photographed by @camillaarmbrust; Styled by @rebeccarams
“Looking back on all seven of my InStyle covers is almost like leafing through a yearbook. It’s surreal and cool to have these little memory markers of your career. I pretty much grew up in this business in front of everyone, and listen, puberty is awkward—just try and do it all publicly,” says Jennifer Aniston in our 25th anniversary issue. “It’s taken me this long to know what I’m capable of. I didn’t always know. I think I used to put a lot of that in the hands of other people. Now I’m taking ownership of it. And you know what? It feels really good.” Read her full story at the link in bio. #InStyle25 | Photographed by @michaelthompsonstudio; Styled by @karlawelchstylist

@ABlackLadySketchShow is the first sketch series with an all-Black women cast and writers’ room, and it’s been an incredible experience for breakout star @QuintaB. “Being around all of those Black women meant that I wasn't the only Black woman in the room, and what I did wasn't going to be the representation of all Black women in the show,” she tells @kimberland. “That happens to Black women a lot…and you feel inclined to be the representation for your entire gender and race. But with this it felt like I had the room to be whatever I wanted, and find new characters, to bring to screen characters that haven't been seen before, because it felt like I had a lot of room to play.” More at the link in bio.
“I was very insecure with my body for a long time. I was absorbing all this media bullsh*t that basically told me I have to change, and that every woman has to adhere to a certain beauty standard,” @BarbieFerreira tells @SamanthaSutton of why playing Kat on HBO’s @Euphoria really resonated with her. “It is a step in the right direction — someone who's bigger gets to have dimension and layered story arcs. Hopefully that expands and can also apply to people with different body types who might not be necessarily [fit] the standard of what you think bigger girls should look like."
