meet me in asbury park next year…. you set out to do something and then no matter what you said you were going to do its the people who love it that actually make it what it is. years ago i said i want to have a festival in new jersey. i wanted to bring a festival to the place that always gets skipped over — always lives in the shadows. so we started shadow, a festival i wanted bleachers to kick off and then different artists would headline every year. year two the 1975 headlined - then year 3 bleachers again. then year 4 to close out the gone cycle was one of my favorite bleachers show of all time. i couldn’t let go and shadow was starting to morph into our yearly bleachers meet up instead of a proper festival. that’s what it turned into and i love that. so year 5- im in the studio making the third bleachers album right now. literally right now as i type this while listening to B3. its close but not ready. this brings us back to shadow. its grown into something that cant really be headlined by anyone else. its our meeting place. where we come to celebrate these songs in the place they are from. the idea of having a festival that someone else headlines is no longer interesting to me. first off because shadow is our thing and second because theres so many goddamn festivals these days who really needs another one. even in new jersey. but what i do believe in is our little convention —— it has to be a bleachers thing. but im not ready with the music. i could just say “this year is off be right back!”. but i hate that. that feels like what people say when something is dead and they don’t want to say it. like “lets take a break” ….. so, heres what ive come up with. a real announcement. a date / a plan and an onsale — shadow of the city - one year from today. ill be ready then to make this what we together have decided it is. by that time with a new bleachers album and tours etc this can be the homecoming its meant to be. plus i like the idea of something to look forward to this far ahead. so no bullshit. here it is. shadow of the city 2020. bleacher-con. my favorite night in asbury park. inches from the boardwalk. bleachers in their homeland. lets do this. meet i
red hearse is sam dew, sounwave and myself. we’d meet ever once in a while in california at the studio. we don’t think much about what we are gonna do, we just make a plan to meet. wave plays something on his mpc, theres mic and moog. it happened like that - and something that we loved came from the three of us in the room. so we kept doing it whenever we could. then an album was alive. so many things in the art world can get over cooked / over A and R’ed / etc. we made these songs me wave sam and laura sisk engineering. thats all. no other writers producers or players. red hearse is the sound of the 3 of us in a room. i love that about these songs. i love that nobody thought it should exist - it just happens to be something that moved us. chicago / new jersey / LA @redhearse forever

father’s day 2019. little ricky antonoff - original ragtime guitar hero and world traveler. :: HOW ARE THE DEALS TODAY
happy birthday rachel. the best we have. as a human and beyond.
happy 2 years of gone now. this album holds a very deep part of me. almost lost myself making it. never would have imagined that you guys out there would make it your own the way you did. would take it in. change it. protect and let it grow. writing and recording an album is only half - giving it and then constantly redefining it together on the road is when it is complete. when it becomes its full self. that’s when it lives. this album is about loss and to the people who experienced that with me on here - we had some wild conversions through it. love you. interesting now that i’m in the middle of writing and recording to remember when gone now came out thinking i’d never write again. thought that was it. the best i had to share. then your life turns and turns. people leave and you need a song to hold it. new people come and you need a song to believe it. that’s what’s coming next ...... the pics above are what the name and cover almost were before i was listening to the final mix of foreign girls and immediately new the album was “gone now” from the first line. RIP flawless sabrina pictured with me. ***gone now forever***

terrible thrills vol 3 comes in the form of a 4 part record club. it will feature bleachers songs from gone now re-imagined by mitski, julien baker, ani difranco and muna as well as demos and new versions of the songs. the concept behind terrible thrills is to create a final version of an album at the end of its cycle. that is will take different shapes for different times. this time around is half in the tradition of female artists remaking the songs and part new in re written lyrics and productions. this collection will only be officially released on vinyl and will only be sold this one time as a whole series. you can get it at the bleachers store now. long live terrible thrills. . photo by @carlottiica back cover art by @__mutantalia__ #1 "Let’s Get Married" - Mitski "Mickey Mantle Comes Alive" - Bleachers 7" #2 "I Miss the Last Days of Disco" - Bleachers "Don’t Take the Money (Demo)" - Bleachers / "All My Heroes" - Muna / "Hate That You Slow Me Down" - Bleachers 7" #3 "Everybody Lost Somebody" - Julien Baker "Good Morning After a Breakup" - Bleachers/ "Vietnam Documentary" - Bleachers 7" #4 "Foreign Girls" - Ani DiFranco "And, Nothing Is You" - Bleachers

here it is! the 5th annual @allycoalition talent show. all proceeds go to homeless LGBT youth centers such as new alternatives in NYC and ruth ellis center in detroit. we’ve been working with these centers for years now and what they do is vital. let’s get together this night and support the 40 percent of homeless youth who are LGBT and need services and shelter. i’m so proud to be doing it again at town hall :: see you all on 12/5! got some surprises as well —- also, pretty sure we can get rachel to continue the tradition of taking an edible before hosting. ticket info and link in stories — @mitskileaks @reginaspektor @andrewdost @lanadelrey @thesheertruth @jacnov @bleachersmusic @matsor @hayleykiyoko
