Congrats to @ian.walsh and the entire #denalisurfteam for sending one of the pinnacle ski / snowboard mountaineering objectives in North America. Ian is one of the best big wave surfers in the world. He just climbed and snowboarded Denali, the highest peak in North America. It’s been inspiring to have spent some time with Ian over the years in @jacksonhole watching his progression as a snowboarder, gaining knowledge in the mountains, pushing himself day after day and paying his dues step by step. He’s clearly been an incredible study and it’s no wonder he excels at everything he does. For those of you not familiar with his day job, swipe over and check the vids. Second photo on Denali is from the talented @erichroepke. You can also follow and see more of the trip at @roam. (You should be following @roam regardless!) Thanks @ian.walsh for the inspiration to always push beyond the lines we draw for ourselves.🤙🏾🙏🏼
#tbt @conrad_anker and @brady_robinson peer out of the portaledge after a 4 day storm on K7. The living space was a crammed mashup of knees, shoulders, elbows, boots, wet socks, gloves etc. It was a sorry fetid sagging excuse of a home. A lot of people ask what three guys stuck in a two person portaledge talk about for four days. Well...not much. Nothing to do but melt snow for water and ponder life’s existential questions. @thenorthface
Happy World Oceans Day! (Although as w Earth Day, I think World Oceans Day should be everyday.) It’s a day to honor and celebrate our oceans but you may have noticed that our oceans could use a little help these days. Besides the impact of climate change on our oceans and the mass acidification of coral reefs, we’re also talking about more plastic in our oceans than fish by 2050. That’s messed up. If you want to help save our oceans you can start by not using single use plastic water bottles. Easy. Carry a water bottle. That’s my commitment. I hope it’s yours too...Be a part of the wave... #hydratelike Thanks to all those that fight tirelessly for the protection of our oceans - @paulnicklen @cristinamittermeier @brianskerry @sealegacy @lonelywhale and others...
Remembering you on this day @deanpotter. You were a true original. What I learned from you made all the difference. The world is not the same without you brother! #flyfree
Cerro Torre simultaneously strikes inspiration and dread in those that seek its upper reaches. Still on the short list... @thenorthface
@codytownsend and @bjarnesalen have been charging hard all season sending big lines on their monumental @the.fifty.project. I think a lot of ski and snowboard mountaineers wished they’d thought of the idea first...or not, depending on their level of motivation. It’s a crusher goal...or actually 50 crusher goals. So glad I got to connect with Cody and Bjarne on one of their objectives and for a memorable lap up and down the Grand. Fun to relive it through the episode they just dropped. Check the link in bio to see what a good day in the mountains looks like. Thanks @codytownsend and @bjarnesalen for getting me out! And watch til the end if you wanna see what else Cody gets when he leaves town besides checking a box on his list...
A 25 year dream realized… Last Friday @kristine_tompkins and @tompkins_conservation concluded the largest private land donation in history by making the formal handover of Pumalín-Douglas Tompkins National Park and Patagonia National Park to the people and government of Chile. Over the last 25 years Tompkins Conservation created five new National Parks, expanded three others and helped to conserve more than 14.2 million acres of wilderness. Truly incredible and almost impossible to understand the scope and scale of what they have achieved. Suffice to say their work is a global model for conservation and beacon of hope for the world in protecting and preserving our remaining wild places. Thank you Kris and Doug for showing us the way forward and how a few committed people with a grand vision can change the world for the better. For more information about @tompkins_conservation and to support their work, hit the link in my bio.
Happy Earth Day! Earth Day should be everyday but it sure would be awesome for Earth Day to be a national holiday...If you agree, hit the link in my bio. @thenorthface #neverstopexploring
Finding the light through the dark today as our mountain tribe lost three beloved members of the family. We again face the great paradox of pursuing one’s dreams in the mountains...something that gives us so much life and yet also takes life away. It never makes sense...yet we understand. You will all be deeply missed... Reflecting on how fortunate we are to have witnessed and felt the greatness, talent and humanity you all shared with us. With my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of @jessroskelley @hansjoergauer and @davidlama_official.
@conrad_anker pondering life far below in the horizontal after 18 days in the vertical. • • • Much of my last twenty years has been spent filming, photographing and exploring the planet’s wild places (many of them w Conrad.) In sharing images and stories around these journeys I’ve always hoped to inspire people to get outside, to go on their own journeys. I think people protect what they love and when people spend time having meaningful experiences out in the wilderness, they discover their love for these places. Hopefully that has an impact on how they take care of them. Earth Day on April 22nd is coming up. In a lot of ways, Earth Day should be everyday, but happy to get behind the petition to make Earth Day a national holiday. It’s a good start... You can sign the #EarthDayPetition by hitting the link in my bio. @thenorthface

The lines between pro and local dark horse talent have always been blurry. Stoked to see the motivated local crushers sending the big lines this winter w hard earned skill and creativity. Here, @dubjh, who works as a wildlife guide in Jackson during the week, taking down the rowdy highly committing and exposed Talk is Cheap into Central Coulior aka Talk to Central. Epic drone work by @hal_v_sun. Keep swiping 👈🏽 to see @dubjh’s POV...😳 Keepin’ it real in @jacksonhole #haveabryceday
Happy Birthday @deanpotter. Miss you my friend...
Putting together a show for tonight’s @mountaineersorg fundraiser event in Seattle. Found a few gems in the archives from my first expedition to the Karakoram in 1999. Twenty years later and still dreaming the same dreams... #oldschool Photo credits go to Evan Howe, @brady_robinson and @dougworkman.

I’ve been watching @codytownsend shred on screen for over a decade. (Seeing him on the mountain in person is even more outrageous...) He’s been crushing big mountain lines for a long time. Power carves, style, stomping big airs are all just day to day for him. This season and next he’s taken a slightly different tack...to climb and ski 50 of the biggest, classic, most aesthetic and notorious ski lines in North America (@the.fifty.project). He’s not that hard to hang out w either. Good to have him bivied in the driveway the last week and to get a lap together on the GT. If you want to see what I mean by “crushing” swipe 👉🏼 or give @codytownsend a follow. @yeti @arcadebelts 🎥 @mspfilms
Photos by @jxnfigs Finding a little peace and quiet at home... I can see this line from my house and have skied it countless times yet it never gets old. In fact I seem to appreciate it more every year, like an old friend. The exposure to the right keeps you honest, the no fall zone to the left keeps it real. Nice to still be able to find it untouched at the end of the day. Thanks for the good company and the pics @jxnfigs... @thenorthface
Happy place... Stoked to join @codytownsend on one of his @the.fifty.project missions to climb and ski the fifty classic descents in North America. We had a fun day on the Grand. The ski conditions weren’t world class but the company and suffering were. More in stories. Thanks for the 📸 @bjarnesalen @yeti @arcadebelts

@travisrice 3.10.19 Tordrillo Mountains. If you’re wondering what he’s thinking about swipe 👈🏽 and check the last few times he was in the Tordrillos...Honestly don’t think any film or footage actually does justice to what Travis is doing in the big mountains or his passion. Both so next level... I’ve always been impressed w how Trav sees the world, the mountains and how he brings the best out in people. Good to have a few days this week to catch up on life w this superhuman - a true gentleman and master of his craft. Follow at @travisrice.

The kind of day that keeps you honest. Always an honor and a privilege to share a rope w @conrad_anker on days like these over the years. Conrad holding fast (and likely chuckling to himself) as he weathers the storm climbing a new route on the Wolf’s Fang, Queen Maud Land, Antarctica.
Epic send off from LA. Thanks @prideofgypsies for being a good friend, reorganizing my internal organs w that bear hug, getting me out for a session before my flight and of course for handing me my little gold statue. You’re the best... 📸 @i.am.aurelius
Still processing what happened this weekend...Here are a few moments I’ll never forget. Strangely emotional today thinking of everyone we’ve shared this journey with. Deeply grateful for all the friends and family that worked on the film, that helped and supported us throughout. When we started making this film four years ago, we never imagined how far it would go or how it would be received by audiences. We only set out to make the best film we knew how to make, to keep it real and to keep it honest. Thank you @natgeo for believing in us and committing to make an extraordinarily risky film. Thank you @alexhonnold for your friendship, the true dedication to perfection, transcending in your craft and showing people how to face their fears. Alex, you dreamed the impossible and allowed everyone to see that through dedication and hard work you can achieve anything. Thank you Alex and Sanni for trusting us to share your story. And thank you to all the incredible people who worked so tirelessly on this film. We owe everything to you. And of course, thank you @chaivasarhelyi...so much love respect and admiration...what a journey... 📸by @aaronpooleimages @gregwilliamsphotography @prideofgypsies @justbish
