Our second mentoring happened during the weekend and we explored the ideas of Self Confidence🌟 Self confidence can take many shapes and forms. It’s a feeling of trust in your own abilities, qualities and judgement. A way of being in the world that allows you to know yourself and how to take care of yourself. Sometimes it might mean having courage to tell the truth about who you are, what you look like and what you believe in, especially accepting the faults and flaws of yourself. Napping can be used in your self-care routine. It has been proved in studies that napping relaxes your body and mind, reduces your feeling of tiredness and improves your performance and overall mood😴 naps should be taken when you experience new fatigue or unexpected sleepiness, when your about to experience sleep loss because you need to spend more time working or doing assessments, or even when you want to make naps a natural habit of your life🙌 the best things to make your naps worthwhile is to make sure your naps are short so you don’t oversleep and end up with that groggy feeling, take naps in the afternoon so it doesn’t interfere with your night time sleep and create a comfy and restful environment🛌📴💤 #0800kidsline #selfcareseptember #takeanap

Swimming is a great self-care method🏊‍♀️🌊🏊‍♂️ it’s a great workout because our bodies have to work against resistance of the water. It keeps our heart rate up and takes some of the impact stress off our bodies💙 Swimming can be done with certain moves like: freestyle, backstroke or even breathstroke. Even walking up and down the lanes of the pool can help too. Some pools are free of charge to go for a swim, some require money. We’re back at it again with another self-care recommendation🤪 Technology can be great, we get to connect with our friends and family instantly, watch the latest films, tv shows and music videos, and even use some of the applications and software for our assignments and jobs🤯 However, technology can leave us glued to our screens - rarely getting outside or paying attention to the little things in life🍃 Disconnecting ourselves from technology, maybe taking a walk outside and enjoying the scenery around us is a self-care method one of our buddies live by! Good news Netflix lovers, you can use Netflix for self care! Many of our buddies watch their beloved tv shows and movies during their homework breaks or when things get too heavy😌💻 There are so many genres to explore, independent movies and documentaries to watch and even some cool anime shows🔮 make sure you have a comfy place to sit in, some snacks available and sometimes inviting a friend or a family member to watch along✌🏼 #0800kidsline #selfcareseptember #netflix

Our next self-care idea is reading🤓📚 why read? Because it helps improve your brain power, it’ll help you learn new things and even helps to understand different perspectives of the world around us🧠it’s good to find something that interests you, whether it takes your mind off things and into a unique world, whether it’s a story you can picture and relate to as a main character, reading some truths and facts about the world, learning something new or the latest gossip and tips/hacks in magazines✨ Make sure you have a comfy, warm place to curl up into and enough light to read the pages🛋 books can be found around at home on shelves, issued out at school, from the public library or bought from book shops. Today marks the launch day for our Self-Care September campaign🎊 We will be posting ideas on our Instagram page that you can try out or see what works for you in order to destress, wind down and have some me time. This post is about running, which can be used as a self care method🏃‍♀️💨🏃‍♂️💨Running can help improve and strengthen your heart, as well as enlightening your mood! Even jogging and frisky walks help as well if you’re not so much of a jogger. You can go for a run around the block, couple of laps at your local park or even up and around your local mountain🏘⛲️⛰ Start with what is comfortable with your fitness level, challenge yourself to a new distance or pace. You can go for a run in the morning, or in the afternoon or evening🌇🏙🌃 When it’s dark outside, try wearing some bright colours so cars and cyclists can see you when you’re out and about on the footpath or crossing the roads! Make sure you drink enough water and are able to stretch and rest once you’ve finished your run🚿🛀🛌 Maybe going for a run with your pet or a friend might boost your confidence and keep you company. Day 6: Three Years ago I was... Going through new changes and a new journey. Our 2015 intake of high school buddies were coming into our Kidsline family for the first time. They were all stepping into a new environment where they would bloom and grow to the best of their abilities. At the same time, we were also saying goodbye to our Coordinator Rebecca at the time, whilst welcoming our new Coordinator Andy. Day 5: this song makes me feel... Te Aroha is a waiata we sing at Kidsline to bless our meals at our events. The song translates to “love, hope, peace, for us all”. This song makes us feel unified as we sing together. It makes us proud to be from such a bilingual, diverse, country. It makes us feel the love, hope and peace we wish for ourselves and for each other.
