I can hardly believe it, 10 years ago today we were unpacking our ‘94 Dodge Spirit (that we had just driven across the country from Canada) and we were moving into a little studio apartment in the valley — excited about the fact that our new building had a poooool and PALM TREES!!!! LA, you have been my teacher & my guiding light for A DECADE and I continue to celebrate you, year after year. I think back to this very day 10 years ago and all I can remember are two crazy kids, unsure of what the heck was ahead. I just really trusted my gut, my vision, and I somehow knew that LA was where I was supposed to be (thankfully @andrethomas_ didn’t let me do it alone👫). We were just two kids chasin’ sunshine and the American Dream.... and pizza on the floor of our apartment that very first night 🎉🎉

just a little reminder to try and focus on what you’re here to do, focus on your passions, your talents, what makes you happy.. instead of what other people are doing or saying about you (btw, it probably means you’re doing something really kickass if people are talking about you 😉) I really believe that if you can find a way outside of the noise, that is when the light truly begins to shine 🙌🏻✨🧡

we’ve been working on a gigantic project for weeeeks, and planning it for months, and thinking about it for Years! and it’s finally starting to come together, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to wanting to throw in the towel now & again and just give up on the whole thing because it’s so much more work than I ever could have imagined 🤯 but then I remember how Beyoncé literally spent 8 months planning & perfecting that TWO HOUR Coachella performance... now that’s hard work, and yes, I know we’re all capable of the same thing, but she just really really excels at it!!!

It’s funny how many times I’ve tried to get a photo of this rainbow at the Sony Studios over the years— and it wasn’t until I had a shoot directly across the street from the Lot that I finally got to see it and take a picture. Regardless of what it is, you can try and try to make something happen (even just a cute photo of a rainbow) but oftentimes, the opportunity doesn’t present itself until it’s time .. and then Boom, Just like that, she appears! Now that is what I call a happy moment 🌈✨

“If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down” Such a beautiful quote and one that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately because how can we possibly allow ourselves to shine, to be happy, and to focus on all the wonderful things in our lives if we are constantly holding on to clutter and pain from the past?
