Last year, @jeffreyshapiro @nicgreece finally aligned our schedules to travel to Western Mongolia together with the incredible support from @keen . Ever since I first traveled to Mongolia in 2013, I dreamt about returning and seeing more of this beautiful country. • Aside from our adventures with paragliding, falconry and general mishaps, we connected with the @mongolecologycenter who have taken up the great responsibility in protecting their National Parks, offering ranger support and creating educational programs for the youth to continue the stewardship. Currently @thecloudbasefoundation have a fundraising campaign to help support the MEC and the first $10K will be matched! 🙌🏼#keenambassador #mongolia

When the first film came out two years ago, it hit an unexpected viral surge on the internet. As the numbers grew, so did the criticism and while most of it was meant with good intention and the desire to see our industry grow and mature, there were also a few assholes in the mix who preyed on sensationalising or simply wanted to attack for the sake of it. It’s hard to not take things to heart and I asked @outdoorresearch to give me another shot and show that as a brand we listened and came back with round 2. ⚡️ • It took a whole lot of miles powered frequently by my consumption of chocolate donuts (4) to see out the journey. From UT, CO, WA, OR, CA, ID, Canada, UK, Wales, Australia, Philippines, and a few other spots, I met incredible athletes from all walks of life who were stoked to share their passion. After all, usually the first reason in why we seek out these adventurous pursuits is because it’s fun. < Film link in profile >🤘🏼 📷: @adrian.rudd (2 & 4)

📷: @bobbysorich (1) // @krystlejwright (2) // When I arrived into Washington in the fall last year, the whole week was falling apart on me except for this shoot with @katiejo.myers. The weather was foul, I had other athletes who needed to bail on me due to other commitments or health issues and I was so relieved that Katie and Bobby were up for the adventure. What I also love to show here is the BTS. So often I was met by surprise on this journey to create Where The Wild Things Keep Playing where some athletes thought I was with a crew but instead I would turn up solo with a camera in hand and winging it as I go. It was a roller coaster as no doubt at times I wish I could’ve had help but it was also impossible to bring anyone into the chaos I created. Sometimes that’s all it needs to be, just a camera in hand and figure it out on the go. @outdoorresearch @canonaustralia @keen #keenambassador

On the outskirts of Lockney, Texas, @nampix takes a moment to start forecasting for the following day as the sky turns to fire in the last moments of light. • As my career has evolved over the past decade, I may not seek out mentors like I once did in the beginning of my career. As a stubborn yet shy 19yr old, I would email or nervously approach photographers with the hope of gaining some form of knowledge that would help me begin to forge a career into sports photography. (In particular in those very early days I owe immense gratitude to @cmcgrath_photo @adampretty @craiggoldingphotos @dellyphotoninja @timclaytonphoto @inciteimages @christo1966 @cjspencois @eoshaw ) • The notion of mentorship for me has evolved in such a way that I now find it through creating collaboration with friends I admire. Funnily enough, I did think @nampix was a bit of a dickhead initially when I was work experience at SMH as he gave me shit for wanting to pursue sports photography. Who would’ve thought after all these years we’d end up collaborating and what a wild ride (literally) that has been in the American Midwest. • Jokes and banter aside, it is wonderfully infectious to see someone as passionate as Nick in documenting the natural world and allowing @skiparmstrong @ladzinski and myself to see that first hand as we created Chasing Monsters.

One of my first biggest purchases when I was 18 was spending my savings on @aquatech_imagingsolutions. All I wanted to do at the time (& still do) was have the opportunity to photograph underwater. Every swim underwater is still as magical as that first since the elements will never be the same twice. A moment from yesterday’s dive when I followed @juansharks down and Galapagos and Sandbar sharks cruise around us. What I still crave the most generally in life is education and to learn more about things I know so little of such as shark’s behaviours. It’s funny to think back to the time when I was 9yrs old and saw ‘Jaws’ for the first time and it had scarred me shitless out of the surf for a month. • Thank you to @aquatech_imagingsolutions for the ongoing support and for connecting me with great water people @b_rocka @_tinacheng_ @oceanramsey #underwaterphotography #sharks

🎥: @benthouard // With the challenge of figuring out how to capture strong visuals that could stand on its own with no voice over in the film, one of my ideas included letting myself go over the falls. What I didn’t completely think through is how many takes that would require before we could nail the right combo. • These two sequences were some of the best and on the second frame, that was the last wave of the day before the light disappeared. I ended up hitting the reef awkwardly not realising I had popped a rib slightly out of place. • [Link In Profile] In Perpetual Motion @canonaustralia @sturgegram @tobypike @goodiepocket @aquatech_imagingsolutions #surfing #underwaterphotography

On average, our team would spend 12-14 hours a day in the car in pursuit of these electrifying moments. Originally we wanted to pursue a supercell to the south but gave into logistics and abandoned the chase to search for a hotel that would strategically place us closer for tomorrow’s chase. The bolts began crack in the darkness but not enough to force us to stop and photograph. It wasn’t until these beautiful giant anvil crawlers began to light up the sky that we couldn’t resist to stop and try to photograph. Even though the body is utterly exhausted, somehow another rush of adrenaline courses through the veins and power lines sizzle above us as Mother Nature explodes her energy into the atmosphere. • [Link to full film in Bio] Our short film Chasing Monsters is now live online thanks to the incredible support from @canonaustralia ⚡️ • Storm chasing with @nampix @skiparmstrong @3stringsproductions @tobypike #stormchasers #supercell

📷: @robertmarciano // (L to R) @ladzinski @nampix @skiparmstrong. Welcome to our storm chasing family. • Australian severe weather photographer @nampix has been documenting weather and bushfires for 20+ years. Embodies the spirit of ‘The Animal’ from the muppets. • Director and cinematographer extraordinaire @skiparmstrong is the man behind the cam and the signature moustache who likes long drives on the lawn on a John Deer #sorryamber • Director and timelapse magician @ladzinski, whilst incredibly talented at his art, makes a 6 year old’s enthusiasm for chocolate cake look mundane. • And aside from photography or other creative endeavours, turns out I have a newly found passion for storm driving 2wd rentals in places they don’t necessarily belong. #stormchaser

A storm that will be remembered for many years. This tornadic supercell became uniquely organised with dozens of striated bands as it ground its way east across the Colorado and SE Nebraska plains. 📷: @nampix // I was asked by @skiparmstrong today on how would I describe this scene to someone who was blind. I couldn’t answer the question as I was left utterly speechless by this intense beautiful formation that is called The Mothership. Along with @ladzinski, our storm chase began in Eastern Colorado. As we chased a powerful supercell into Nebraska, I was white-knuckle driving through the northern edge of the bears cage as the RFD wrapped around into the mesocyclone. Thanks to Nick’s gut instinct and knowledge, we pulled the pin to circle back around which then took about 2.5hrs to core punch through heavy rain and large hail where I swear our windscreen was about to crack at any second. It was such a huge wave of relief to see out of the Whales Mouth and as our road diverted south towards Kansas, we came into this spectacular view of The Mothership. #stormchaser #mothershipstorm

Yesterday evening on the outskirts of Memphis TX as @nampix makes the most of the spectacular light. During the first day of chasing storms with @nampix @ladzinski @skiparmstrong, we finished at Junction City, Kansas allowing this weak linear storm to pass over. When supercells are moving faster than 45knts, the ability to intercept becomes near impossible depending on road systems and other factors such as flooding. #stormchaser #lightning #eosr @canonaustralia

Many years ago, @5pointfilm was the first ever film festival I was introduced to and it’s always been special to me to have films be selected into such a strong lineup amongst peers I constantly look up to. This year, our crew @skiparmstrong @nampix @tobypike @3stringsproductions were able to showcase ‘Chasing Monsters’ and I couldn’t be more stoked that we were awarded ‘Best Cinematography.’ ⚡️ I’m not sure we knew what we were getting into but it was a fast education after leaving Dallas airport. Within hours we were blinded by microburst winds exceeding 100mph and Skip without hesitation was in the thick of the action documenting Nick in his element (1st image). It’s so important to me to create the best possible team where it’s a collaboration and giving me trust into an initial idea that evolved into this beautiful short film. ⚡️ Coming soon online @canonaustralia @monsterchildren @jswok @nylonstudios @jessewatt_composer #stormchaser #tornadoalley #supercell

📷: @trent_mitchell_ // I started my career as a sports photographer running the sidelines at the big events but it wasn’t before too long that I grew tired of the immediacy since that often forced me to sacrifice creativity. Pursuing the adventure photography full time instead allowed the chance to create space and move at a slower pace. Although thanks to social media, the urgency of immediacy did find its way to slowly creep back in and with it came this feeling of pressure to succeed on every project. Reality for me is that it doesn’t always work out. There are continual setbacks particularly when I work in an arena where so many things are naturally out of my control. The image I dream of to capture in Norway with @kimi_swimmy still lingers in the mind, but I can tell you with sincerity that this trip we took to Norway is one of the best experiences I’ve had. ✨Link in Bio ✨ @whalesunderwater @darrenjew @pxlexplorer @garminoutdoor #descentmk1 @aquatech_imagingsolutions

Making the most out of an unfortunate shadow but on the flip side it does showcase a behind the scenes look as I photographed and filmed @huens who no doubt is one of the strongest climbers I’ve worked with. Usually I’d pack my industrial harness to offer enough comfort when spending far too much time hanging from a rope but on this occasion, it was definitely a different type of stamina in my climbing harness. Camping north on the Duffy Lake Highway with @angela_vanwiemeersch @dghenkel and Pika earlier last week was one of my favourite days recently. After arriving 2am into Squamish, we were a tad slow moving that day that we didn’t arrive to our spot until 3pm.
