This amazing stone found me on a beach and TSA almost didn’t let me bring it back. Sometimes all I need is a beautiful rock!
I could not be more enthusiastic about @jodiepatterson much anticipated, newly released book tonight @bloomingdales Carousel Shop in conversation with @bevesmith - THE BOLD WORLD @jodiepatterson a memoir of family and transformation ! So much love and strength and courage to form family and self expression - a must read! “A courageous and poetic testimony on family and the self, and the learning and unlearning we must do for those we love. In her stunning and moving debut, Jodie Patterson offers us all a blueprint for what it means to be a champion for our children and encourage us to be bold enough to let our babies lead the way, especially when we don’t have answers. Required reading for every parent, and anyone who has ever been parented.” —Janet Mock, @janetmock 🖤🙏🏾🙌🏿💕#theboldworld

About Last Night! Thank you @whitneymuseum and lovely introduction by Whitney curator Rujeko Hockley @rjkhckly for hosting an intimate conversation- between me & Elizabeth Alexander @alexanderlizzy on inspiration, writing, life and reflections about all that we do and how we do it - on the occasion of the new @chroniclebooks Lorna Simpson Collages introduction by Elizabeth Alexander. 💙💙💙💙💙💙 thank you Lauri Freedman for making it happen @instalaurigram💙
I just need to pause today and thank @joshuahmelnick for these orchids, and that they remind me of a phrase that a dear friend of @sandyela repeated to her which I will never forget “my eyes are built for beauty” as he was dying from AIDS - I cannot help to think that every time I see someone I know I say: “we are so really fucked, this time” the continuous surges of White House inhumanity, and lawlessness unleashed, the implications of and systematic attempts of erasure of our dignity and of all that was and is being fought for - any and all gains will quickly be rolled back. If in twenty years the question “how did things get like this?” We are certain and clear as to how this all started, and yes we know how we got to this point.
Out of many amazing exchanges there was also this beautiful moment in time. The real importance of simply eating and conversation.
