Now is the time for reflection and stillness. Now is the time to support others as they deal with sorrow. Now is the time to allow yourself to take a moment — for whatever you need, for whatever others need — and just live in that moment. Action will come, but for now, just be. 🙏🏻#MondayMeditation

As the sun sets on another week, don’t forget to take a deep breath. Center yourself and take inventory of your needs before you start your week. Access your confidence, and know that no matter what’s going on in the world, you have control of yourself, and you are in charge. This week is yours to own! #sundayeveningreminder

𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚, 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥! The news is devastating, but it's also frustrating. Earlier this week, after a shooting in Gilroy, CA, killed three people, including a 6-year-old boy, I found myself saying, "America, we are better than this. If now is not the time to act, when is?" I can't believe I find myself repeating those words just a few days later. For more of what I’ve Been Thinking, the News & Views Above the Noise, and so much more, read this week’s @thesundaypaper. Let me know what you’ve been thinking in the comments below, and we’ll be back with new editions soon! ☕️#thesundaypaper

Life is fragile and heartbreaking. It turns upside down in a minute. Love your children, hold them tight. Love your family, hold them close. Love your friends, keep them near. Be gentle with others, as so many are fragile and struggling. Actually, I think it’s best to assume everyone is struggling, so treat everyone with love, tenderness, and compassion. #ivebeenthinking

This week, I’ve Been Thinking what every woman should know about her health. If you haven’t seen my new series on @todayshow, Women’s Wellness Disrupt-HERS, or know about my nonprofit, @womensalzmovement, you might not know how passionate I am about helping to correct the gender research gap for women. I want all women to feel empowered and in charge of their health and wellness, and these 10 things will help get us in that direction! Make sure to save, share with all the women in your life, and start becoming more active in your healthcare everyday. #ivebeenthinking

Tonight, the second new moon of the month rises in the sky, just as Mercury retrograde comes to an end. This Super Black New Moon is the perfect time to let go of those who don’t honor and respect you, and stand strong in your being. Use this time to embrace who you truly are and who you truly want to be. Look up at the sky tonight, even if you can’t see the moon, and let me know what this black moon manifests in you. 🌘🌑🌒 #blackmoon

Let’s all stay above the noise together. I’ll be watching tonight to once again see who inspires, who has vision to move humanity forward, and who can speak to the issues that matter. Let us remember, this is not a fight, this is a debate. Will you be watching? #viewsabovethenoise

mariashriver

Tonight’s debate is a not a boxing match, it’s not a reality tv show. Let’s not watch it from that lense or place. These are people working hard, applying for the most coveted job in the world. Let’s listen with intent and respect. America’s got talent, and it will be on the stage tonight and tomorrow. 🇺🇸 #democraticdebate

I believe anyone can be an Architect of Change, and make our world a better place. That’s why every Tuesday, I try and shine a light on a person making a difference moving humanity forward. @carriejernigan, a mom and attorney from Arkansas, was shopping with her kids at @payless in May. When her daughter asked to get a pair of shoes for a classmate in need, Carrie had the idea to buy all the available shoes in stock, due to Payless shutting its doors for good. Carrie left the store with 1,500 pairs of shoes, and intends to donate the vast majority to kids in need. Her community has also rallied behind her, helping to pay for the shoes, as well as raise money for future efforts like back to school shopping! Carrie, thank you for helping to change the world, challenge what is, and move the needle. You are my Architect of Change of the week! #architectofchange

Last night, the 246th shooting of the year took place in Gilroy, CA at the 40th Annual Garlic Festival. At least 4 have been killed, including a 6 year old. California, we are better than this. America, we are better than this. If now is not the time to act, when is? #MondayMeditation

Your voice is powerful. Don’t allow people to tell you otherwise, and don’t let yourself be silenced. Speak up for others, speak up your yourself, and speak up for the injustices in the world. How are you going to use your voice this week? #sundayeveningreminder

As we celebrate America’s freedom today, let us reflect upon the reasons and founding principles that our country was started. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — this should be for all, no matter your gender, race, religion, or country of origin. America is a great melting pot, and today I will be celebrating these inalienable rights that we all should hold dear! 🇺🇸 #factabovethenoise

I’m going home today! After I wrote that line, I just stopped and stared at it. My home is actually in Los Angeles, but I’m going east to Hyannis Port for the Fourth. And without thinking, I wrote I’m going home. Well, my brothers are there, my cousins are there, my parents are buried there, and my childhood home complete, with my childhood bed, my childhood dolls, and toy horses are there...as are my memories. Memories of being young, memories of my parents being alive, memories of a lot of people, who are no longer here. I used to dread going back. Now I’m so excited I could cry. How do you feel when you go “home”? 📷 by @larrylevin #theresnoplacelikehome

Get ready for something to be over, and something new to begin. Set an intention for yourself tonight. What do you want eclipsed? What do you want to begin? I’m setting some strong intentions tonight, so let’s get brave with what no longer serves and with what does. What’s the profound truth? What energy are we putting out tonight during the eclipse? #solareclipse

@mrapinoe and the @uswnt continue to make the United States proud as they play their hearts out in the World Cup. Right now, the Women’s Soccer Team is playing in the semifinals against England, and win or lose, they have proven themselves to be Architects of Change. They have challenged what is, imaged what can be, and moved humanity forward, on the field and off! Congrats ladies, you are my Architects of Change of the Week! #architectofchange

This last Sunday, I wrote about my friend Eddie in @thesundaypaper, and all that I’ve learned from him. For those of you who have asked, here are some other Eddie wisdoms. Eddie Wisdoms: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • Destiny has its own way of meeting up with you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • I waited for my wife for ten years. It was worth it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • Everyday, think of yourself as winning, and you will begin to feel yourself winning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • As soon as I stopped chasing more, I got more of what I needed. My friend, @theotuomey, sent me this photo yesterday, of the launch of @natlheadstart in 1965. This was one of my father’s favorite programs, and I am so proud it continues to make a difference to millions. Head Start promotes school readiness of children through education, health, social, and other services. Holding the banner in this image from @whitehousehistory are film and television star Danny Kaye; First Lady “Lady Bird” Johnson; Lou Maginn, director of a Head Start project in Vermont; and my father, Sargent Shriver, who spearheaded the program as Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity. As we head into our nation’s birthday, the concept of "less is more" is very much on my mind. What do we need to feel peaceful, joyful and happy? Do we need more, or do we need less? Perhaps we already have enough, and should instead focus on giving more to others. Share your thoughts below. 🙏🏻 #MondayMeditation

What do we need to feel peaceful, joyful and happy? Do we need more, or do we need less? Perhaps we already have enough, and should instead focus on giving more to others. How much is enough? It’s worth asking ourselves as we gear up for Fourth of July—a day when we celebrate everything we love about our country. I encourage you to ask yourself this week, “What do we stand for as a country?” Do we stand for wanting more, more, more? Or do we already have enough? Might we be willing to have a little less, just so that others can have more? My entire life, I’ve always been that person who says to the doctor, “I’m not allergic to anything.” I’ve also been that person who reads the potential side effects of a medicine and declares “not going to happen to me.” Well, lo and behold, this week I got an adverse allergic reaction to something that was supposed to help me, and it landed me in bed for two days. This whole experience has also made me think about the toxicity that we let into our lives on a daily basis. I’ve thought, imagine if you had an outward physical reaction to toxic people, instead of just that gnawing one in your stomach. Imagine if your body swelled up every time someone lied to you. Would you run away from that person faster? Would the person who causes you pain get the chance to upset you? As the @uswnt takes the field in France today against Sweden for their final game of group play, we are rooting them on from back home! But we can’t forget the new reporting that came out just last week showing the huge pay gap in the @ussoccer Federation. According to financial audit reports, women’s soccer makes more money than men’s games, yet are paid much less. The U.S. women’s team also continues to be one of the most dominant teams in the sport, considered by many a shoe-in to win the World Cup this year. The men’s team? They didn’t even qualify. So, why are the women of soccer being paid so much less for not only doing the same job, but doing more? ⚽️ Comment with your thoughts below! #uswomenssoccer

In this week’s edition of @thesundaypaper, Jon Stewart was named our Architect of Change of the week for his moving testimony in front of Congress last week on behalf of the 9/11 heroes. Last evening, Jon appeared on @colbertlateshow to once again speak up for the 9/11 first responders, and urge the Senate to take action, to pass a bill, and to take care of the issue at hand. Thank you, Jon, for challenging what is, imaging what can be, and continuing to move humanity forward, time and time again! #architectofchange

Architects of Change challenge what is, imagine what can be and move humanity forward. This Sunday, @alistroker made history when she took home @thetonyawards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s @oklahomabway. Ali became the first person who uses a wheelchair to be nominated for and win a Tony award. In her moving acceptance speech, Ali dedicated her win to children with disabilities, reminding them and all of us, “You are.” All of us can be as brave as Ali, and today I honor her and her courage as the Architect of Change of the week! #architectofchange
