2L Grayson Haws gives us the lowdown on what it's like to extern for the Ugandan Judiciary - "At the Court of Appeal, I have the opportunity to work alongside Ugandan law clerks to research, write, and draft memos for the Honorable Justice K. Also, I drink a lot of Ugandan tea." Ashley Denise Torres and Elica M-Zadeh were recognized by the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Foundation at its 65th Annual Supreme Court Luncheon. ✦ ✦ Ashley was one of five California law students to receive a 2019 Beverly Hills Bar Foundation Scholarship for her commitment to public service, and Elica received an honorable mention award in the 10th Annual Rule of Law Writing Competition for her article, “A Beautiful Fork in the Familiar Road: Restorative Justice as Diverting the Path of Schools to Prisons.”

We have some big news to share today – the School of Law is honored to announce a pacesetting gift by benefactors Carrol and R. Rex Parris to formally endow the Parris Institute for Professional Formation. ✦ The Parris Institute, established in 2014 with an initial gift of $1 million, is dedicated to the professional development of first-year law students at Pepperdine Law. An additional $2 million presented in 2019 names the Parris Institute in perpetuity and firmly establishes the Parris family legacy at Pepperdine Law. ✦ The full story may be read at the link in bio.
