A broken heart can really hurt. But time heals all wounds (no seriously, it does). So how much time do you need to get over it? The answer is different for every person and every breakup. Do what you need to do — cry, listen to sad music, go for a long walk or run, hang out with your friends, or write in a journal. Whatever works for you. These feelings can be hard to go through, but they’ll get less intense over time. #regram: @janellesilver #breakups #relationships #dating #love #art

Sex is a label — usually male or female — that you’re assigned by a doctor at birth based on the genitals you’re born with and (sometimes) the chromosomes you have. Gender is much more complex: It’s a social and legal status that comes with expectations from society about who you’ll become. Image via @fembroidery . #gender #genderidentity

The tip of the clitoris is located at the top of your vulva, where your inner labia (AKA vaginal lips) meet. Everyone’s is a different size. It can be about as small as a pea or as big as a thumb. - Your clitoris is made of spongy tissue that becomes swollen when you're aroused (turned on). It has thousands of nerve endings — more than any other part of the human body. And it’s only purpose? To make you feel good. - #regram: @iheartguts #clitoris #sexualhealth #sexed #sexeducation #anatomy

“To Planned Parenthood patients, activists and supporters: I have never met a group of people more dedicated to real work, more passionate about the mission or more committed to service, so I wanted to reach out to you directly. Yesterday, the board of directors for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) appointed me the acting president and CEO of PPFA and Acting President of PPAF. I am so grateful, and really humbled, for the board giving me this opportunity. I have been part of the Planned Parenthood family for nearly a decade as a volunteer board member and board chair. In that time, I have had the chance to travel across the country and see the incredible work that happens every day at Planned Parenthood health centers. Planned Parenthood doctors, clinicians and staff at 600 health centers open their doors to care for more than 8,000 people each day, providing birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and safe, legal abortion. Planned Parenthood educators give people the information they need to make decisions about their bodies, their health and their lives. And Planned Parenthood volunteers, activists and organizers empower communities to fight for their rights, including the basic human right to access health care. I have watched this work happen, and every day I am proud to be part of this organization and this movement. I’ve spent my career working at the intersection of academia and racial justice, and I used to tell my students: We find leadership in everyday experiences, but sometimes you see a good fight and you just want in. So nearly 10 years ago, I jumped in at Planned Parenthood.” Read the rest of Alexis McGill Johnson’s letter to the Planned Parenthood community by clicking the link in our bio.

Ten years ago today, Dr. George Tiller — an abortion provider in Wichita, Kansas — was murdered by an anti-abortion zealot. Alabama just passed the most extreme abortion ban since Roe v. Wade. But it’s not just Alabama. We have now seen 15 state bans on abortion pass in the first five months of 2019. . There’s a reason these laws are so extreme — they’re meant to be a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, and to end the national right to access abortion we’ve had for more than four decades. Politicians are doing this in defiance of the American people, whose support for access to safe, legal abortion is an at an all-time high — and growing. In fact, 73% of Americans say they do not want to see Roe overturned. . Your health, not a politician’s beliefs, should drive important medical decisions. We'll do whatever it takes to stop dangerous bans so that our patients can continue to access the care they need. .
