We knew these titles looked familiar! Both FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/ WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF and A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY are a part of what shaped The Public Theater into what it is today and both are a part of our 19/20 season. As if this #tbt couldn’t get any better, tickets for both shows are available now. The link in our bio has more! #throwback #throwbackthursday
"Management here makes you feel that you are worth something." - Sarah E. Taylor (@sarahtzizzle) Sarah is rocking Front of House both downtown at #AstorPlace and during Free #ShakespeareinthePark at The Delacorte! If you need anything while seeing any of our shows, give Sarah or any of our Front of House staff a 👋 and they will be able to help you out. #WomenCrushItWednesday
Opening Night memories seem appropriate for the closing day of CORIOLANUS. We’re sending our best wishes to the entire company on their final performance! 📸: Simon Luethi

We knew CORIOLANUS cast members Kate Burton and Teagle F. Bougere looked familiar! And, no, we aren’t just talking about seeing Kate Burton on our TV in #GreysAnatomy or #Scandal and Teagle F. Bougere in #Socrates this past season. They both appeared in CYMBELINE at The Delacorte in 2015. 📸: Carol Rosegg #tbt #throwbackthursday
"Hal Prince was a giant, perhaps THE giant, of the Broadway musical for the last 3/4 of a century. His enormous energy, his passion, his ability to work with superb collaborators, and his constant restlessness to expand the boundaries of the musical inspire us all. The contemporary Broadway musical is literally unimaginable without him. He was also a generous friend, a loving family man, and a mentor and advocate for countless young artists. We honor him, and we will miss him.” - Oskar Eustis We send warm thoughts to Hal’s family at this time. 📸: Martha Swope/ © The New York Public Library Digital Collections (1981) via Billy Rose Theatre Division
Our Junius Brutus, Enid Graham, may encounter some furry friends while at The Delacorte for CORIOLANUS, but they are just a little different than the 🐶 + 🐱🐱 at home! #REPOST @petsofbroadway “I was in Curious Incident for two years and there’s a puppy at the end of the play. When it came time for a puppy to retire, my kids would beg every time to adopt the puppy. I think that put it in my mind that maybe it would be a good idea to get a dog. I was so busy at the time but when the show closed and everything slowed down we decided to go for it! We tried to get a dog that was family-friendly and easy going and we really lucked out and got this sweet one, Cosmo. We were asking a lot of our little cats, Shingo and Yuko to bring in a dog, but they’ve become good friends! Yuko just tolerates Cosmo but Shingo and Cosmo are really sweet and play together.” @ceg88, Shakespeare in the Park’s Coriolanus.

"I think we [woman-identifying Public Theater Technical Staff] are all very - in the technical area - we all definitely give each other a boost. Even if you're not wardrobe, if you're a PA or props... we all tend to help each other out." - Cynthia Jasmin Reyes ( @cynthiiajasmiin) Wardrobe Supervisor #WomenCrushItWednesday #ShakespeareStageHands Tag the co-worker who is always there to lend a hand!
Between the ☀️🥵 and the ⛈ ☔️ over the past couple of days, we are hoping for better weather for the rest of the Free #ShakespeareinthePark run of CORIOLANUS.

Crossing the border isn't the only act of bravery immigrants display. It also comes in what happens after setting foot on U.S. soil. As we watch the nation's border crisis continue, tonight we open the #immigration story set in our own city. Happy Opening, MOJADA. #ModernDayMedea Illustration by @justinteodoro
This is definitely what we look like walking up to the line at The Delacorte (or the Downtown Lottery or at our Borough distribution) with all our friends to get #Free tickets to tonight’s first preview of CORIOLANUS (except without the props). 📸: Joan Marcus #ShakespeareinthePark

Love Wins. Happy #Pride weekend, New York!
Amia Tyrae Berryman was one of 27 reported homicides of transgender Americans in 2018. The number in any given year is likely much higher, as trans victims are often misgendered or their deaths not reported at all. On today's 50th anniversary of Stonewall, we celebrate how far we've come, but also recognize just how much work we still need to do. We hope you will continue to join us on that journey, whether that be as artist or audience member. #weareonepublic #pride
As our cast and crew get ready for our upcoming production of CORIOLANUS, it’s trivia time! What year was the most recent Free #ShakespeareinthePark production of this particular tragedy? 📸: Joan Marcus

Today would have been Joe Papp's 98th birthday. We honor him today and every single day by continuing his mission of making theater accessible to everyone. In celebration, we encourage you to go out and see art, in whatever form you can. Photo credit: Martha Swope/ © The New York Public Library
Our MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING is about to reach an even bigger audience. We are incredibly excited to announce that this Summer’s Free #ShakespeareinThePark production, directed by Kenny Leon, will be filmed this weekend for #GreatPerformancesPBS and will be aired at a later date. 📸: Joan Marcus
We're making #FlashbackFriday a thing because AIN’T NO MO’ playwright and actor @jordanecooper will be joining us for Public Forum: QUEER & NOW on Monday! Three words: Free For All. Two Season Sponsors: @bankofamerica & The Jerome L. Greene Foundation. In honor of #WorldPride and #Stonewall50, this #PrideMonth, we’ll be looking back at how some of the stories on our stages have reflected and responded to the world of the time. Paul’s monologue in A CHORUS LINE, inspired by author Nicholas Dante’s own experiences, is made all the more poignant by the fact that it wasn’t until 1973, just a year before A CHORUS LINE premiered, that homosexuality was declassified as a mental illness by the American Psychiatric Association.
We strive to celebrate the #WomenofThePublic every single day, but tonight we are taking a special moment to honor their achievements at our Gala. You can be a part of this celebration by joining our standby line at The Delacorte. Each person in line is eligible for up to two #free tickets to the performance pending availability.
Today, we end the run of SOCRATES. Congratulations to this company on an incredible run!
Hello sunshine, blue skies, and Free #ShakespeareinthePark ☀️

Whether it is downtown at #AstorPlace or up at The Delacorte for Free #ShakespeareinthePark, our production crew and behind the scenes staff continue to crush it! "I think all the women who I have interacted with have all been extremely capable and very good at their jobs and there has been very little need to prove ourselves, which is awesome and I think atypical of a lot of male dominated industries." - Meb Griffin, Associate Technical Director #womencrushitwednesday
