We knew these titles looked familiar! Both FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/ WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF and A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY are a part of what shaped The Public Theater into what it is today and both are a part of our 19/20 season. As if this #tbt couldn’t get any better, tickets for both shows are available now. The link in our bio has more! #throwback #throwbackthursday

If you need anything while seeing any of our shows, give Sarah or any of our Front of House staff a 👋 and they will be able to help you out. #WomenCrushItWednesday

We knew CORIOLANUS cast members Kate Burton and Teagle F. Bougere looked familiar! And, no, we aren’t just talking about seeing Kate Burton on our TV in #GreysAnatomy or #Scandal and Teagle F. Bougere in #Socrates this past season. They both appeared in CYMBELINE at The Delacorte in 2015. 📸: Carol Rosegg #tbt #throwbackthursday

"Hal Prince was a giant, perhaps THE giant, of the Broadway musical for the last 3/4 of a century. His enormous energy, his passion, his ability to work with superb collaborators, and his constant restlessness to expand the boundaries of the musical inspire us all. The contemporary Broadway musical is literally unimaginable without him. He was also a generous friend, a loving family man, and a mentor and advocate for countless young artists. We honor him, and we will miss him.” - Oskar Eustis We send warm thoughts to Hal’s family at this time. 📸: Martha Swope/ © The New York Public Library Digital Collections (1981) via Billy Rose Theatre Division

Our Junius Brutus, Enid Graham, may encounter some furry friends while at The Delacorte for CORIOLANUS, but they are just a little different than the 🐶 + 🐱🐱 at home! #REPOST @petsofbroadway “I was in Curious Incident for two years and there’s a puppy at the end of the play. When it came time for a puppy to retire, my kids would beg every time to adopt the puppy. I think that put it in my mind that maybe it would be a good idea to get a dog. I was so busy at the time but when the show closed and everything slowed down we decided to go for it! We tried to get a dog that was family-friendly and easy going and we really lucked out and got this sweet one, Cosmo. We were asking a lot of our little cats, Shingo and Yuko to bring in a dog, but they’ve become good friends! Yuko just tolerates Cosmo but Shingo and Cosmo are really sweet and play together.” @ceg88, Shakespeare in the Park’s Coriolanus.

Amia Tyrae Berryman was one of 27 reported homicides of transgender Americans in 2018. The number in any given year is likely much higher, as trans victims are often misgendered or their deaths not reported at all. On today's 50th anniversary of Stonewall, we celebrate how far we've come, but also recognize just how much work we still need to do. We hope you will continue to join us on that journey, whether that be as artist or audience member. #weareonepublic #pride

In honor of #WorldPride and #Stonewall50, this #PrideMonth, we’ll be looking back at how some of the stories on our stages have reflected and responded to the world of the time. Paul’s monologue in A CHORUS LINE, inspired by author Nicholas Dante’s own experiences, is made all the more poignant by the fact that it wasn’t until 1973, just a year before A CHORUS LINE premiered, that homosexuality was declassified as a mental illness by the American Psychiatric Association.

We strive to celebrate the #WomenofThePublic every single day, but tonight we are taking a special moment to honor their achievements at our Gala.
