How does this guy ^ say bye to his son? 👋 Bison! • But what does he say to his twin sons?? 👋👋 Bison bison! • I’m not sorry for this terrible pun. ••• #YellowstoneNationalPark #Bison #BisonBison #Puns

Have you ever had a snowball fight on the summer solstice? I have! The snow left as fast as it came though, and now summer really is summer in Yellowstone. It was a treat to see Grand Prismatic Spring in such a dramatic costume when we had the chance. • Now Yellowstone Live 2019 is officially wrapped and I am already onto my next filming adventure in Alaska with @e.ranney! ••• #SummerSolstice #GrandPrismaticSpring #YellowstoneNationalPark #YellowstoneLive

Yellowstone is named after the yellow cliffs and outcroppings that contrast vividly with the blue waters and sky. The dramatic canyons, mountains and wildlife are what inspired Teddy Roosevelt to establish this as USA’s first National Park in 1872. That’s before the states of Wyoming or Montana, where YNP resides, were even states! Our national parks, wild places and wild life are unique and part of our national heritage, and nothing is more American than preserving them for future generations. • #YellowstoneLive #NationalParks #GrandCanyonOfYellowstone #USA

All around the production base in West Yellowstone we see the cliff swallows swooping through the air. They’re in motion all day, catching insects in mid flight. These beautiful birds build their nests with mud in cliff crevices or under overhangs like this. • Keep an eye out for the swallows flying around hosts Chris Packham and Jenna Wolfe tonight on the final episode of Yellowstone Live, 9pm/6pm on @natgeochannel! ••• #YellowstoneLive #CliffSwallow #Birds

In Lamar valley, a moose cow and her tiny calf grazed on fresh willow leaves just across the stream from a herd of bison. This calf can’t have been more than a week old, but has to grow up fast to avoid predators and survive the winter. • Tonight’s episode of Yellowstone Live will feature predator/prey relationships. Tune in to @natgeochannel at 9pm/6pm to see what’s happening in the park today! ••• #Moose #MooseCalf #PredatorPrey #YellowstoneLive

A visit to Grand Prismatic Spring in the morning after snowfall (in June!) was magical. The colors and steam rolling off the water were even more impressive in the cold air, surrounded by snow. The spring’s vivid reds and yellows come from thermophilic (heat-loving) bacteria that disperse based on their heat requirements. Bacteria like this could even be similar to the life forms found around hydrothermal features on other planets and moons! This spring is definitely one of Yellowstone’s must-see wonders. • See more of Grand Prismatic and other amazing sites tonight on Yellowstone Live on @natgeochannel at 9pm/6pm! ••• #GrandPrismaticSpring #YellowstoneLive

Yellowstone has endless views of mountains and rivers and wildlife. This pronghorn stag was taking in the views himself while resting in the morning. Pronghorn are the second fastest land mammal (after the cheetah), and can reach top speeds just days after being born! • Through Wednesday you can learn more about Yellowstone National Park’s unique wildlife on Yellowstone Live on @natgeochannel at 9pm ET / 6pm PT. ••• #YellowstoneLive #Pronghorn

It’s early summer and the babies are everywhere. This bison calf was right near our car while the herd crossed the road. It snowed (!) only a couple of days ago and covered all the nice new green grasses. Fortunately, this little one still has mom’s milk for warm sustenance. • This week you can watch Yellowstone Live on @natgeochannel at 9pm ET / 6pm PT and see even more wild babies! ••• #YellowstoneLive #Bison

It’s been such an awesome time on E/V Nautilus this year! We’ve been working with NASA SUBSEA to provide an operations analog for space missions and we’ve been collecting all sorts of samples from hydrothermal vents. As I’m sitting in the lounge on board, I’m listening to the current watch talk about the sulfuric smell of that water for Nautiluslive.org....We have one more day of exploration here at Gorda Ridge after today and then we’ll head back to San Francisco. • This picture (thanks @edm81363) is from last year’s time aboard the Nautilus, but the control van looks much the same! ••• @nautiluslive #GordaRidge #NASA #SUBSEA #NautilusLive #VideoEngineer
