Angela (store manager) the team at store 14433 Randolph & Morgan work hard to make all customers feel like family. The store is a neighborhood cafe that has been in the West Loop of Chicago since 2007. Inspired by the grit of its location and the glamour of newly built restaurants, shops and hotels surrounding it, the remodel of the cafe captured elements of both the old and the new. The café sits directly across from the newly opened Princi location. This design contrasts against the sophistication of Princi by lightening the overall palette and the using more modern and innovative materials. The store has become a bright welcoming beacon by removing canvas awnings and implementing a refined lighting package. By replacing the floor and providing a new bar layout, flipping the entry door and customer queue an entirely new flow for the store was created. #tobeapartner
The design for this store in Shanghai, China was inspired by the color, taste, and smell of food and coffee. ☕️ When you walk into the store, you will see a bold coffee counter, crafted from local marble. The design of the bar tells a story of mixing liquids, which represents both coffee beverage and cocktail. The floor pattern was inspired by wheat and was achieved by mixing and matching two different marble stones. Local characteristics of Shanghai are expressed through the space. For instance, the gently hung lighting system showcases the form of the Shanghainese clothes hanger. #tobeapartner

Scarlett leads the team Located in the historic city of Charleston SC, the former Carolina Savings Bank building is a masterpiece of Beaux Arts architecture within the famous French Quarter. Built between 1926 and 1927, 239 King St has been the home to Starbucks for several years. A little from the SM: "I've been a partner for 3 1/2 years, I started as a barista for fun on top of my full time pastry chef job. I love how each partner brings a unique perspective to how they create the Starbucks experience in our store. They are all so creative. Our community is so unique — it is a mix of friends, neighbors and all of the diverse travelers. My partners love how modern the store looks while still keeping the Charleston charm. The bank vault door is a huge attraction as well."
Jesse and the team bring this store to life. The store in the Midtown Atlanta area Spring & 4th serves as the home-store for Georgia Tech students residing above, as well as, a model store for the surrounding growing urban community. “This store was a joy to design and grow. We could sense the environment truly coming into its own – generated to match the day to day lives of the students. We included study and living areas, along with subtle hints of school colors and the yellow jacket mascot” shared the Store Designer. Local Artist Lela Brunet captures the essence of Starbucks along with the mindset of the students that are set to visit the store – down to the buzzing that will surround their minds, may it be their studies, coffee or the mural's yellowjackets. The final and magnificent touch are the garage doors found in adjacency of the nitro and espresso areas. “We wanted to create an experience that was driven by the authenticity and context our daily customers – crafting a 3rd place that becomes part of your daily routine and the student life of Georgia Tech” said the Senior Designer.

Starbucks collaborated with Shenzhen Eslite lifestyle for the first time to offer a unique 3rd place experience for customers. Eslite bookstore is one of the largest bookstore chains in Taiwan and Asia. Coming into the main entrance, customers are greeted with our brew bar and R+ specialty drinks made especially for this store. The dark terrazzo and light ash wood palette creates a sense of contrast to highlight our main island bar. A thin layer of fritted glass with copper trim separates the back bar and community table, adding a classy touch to the overall bar design. Opposite the bar, customers are treated to our specially-created theatre seating where customers have elevated views of our baristas and island bar while enjoying a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other. Occasionally, the theatre seating can be used as a platform for special events. An abstract coffee map made of thin strips of oak wood and straws highlights the back wall.
Practice makes perfect. Our Area Barista championships are under way- congrats and good luck to all our participants! #tobeapartner

This store is made of cardboard and it's in the Tryer Center. The 20,000 sq. ft facility in the Seattle Starbucks Support Center (SSC) designed for quick turn ideation, prototyping and action. Based on human centered design principles, at Tryer anyone – from partners who work at the SSC to our baristas in the field - can have an idea, put it to the test, and go from idea to action in 100 days. The space features walls and spacers that can be adjusted or changed depending on the project. There are 3D printers, laser cutters and industrial materials available for fast prototyping. You'll often find partners adjusting or reimagine store layouts to find the best way to let partners do their job in stores. #tobeapartner
Celebrating our first store in Malta, as the island nation becomes Starbucks 80th global market. Located in the centuries-old capital of Valletta, the store was designed to reflect both the country’s vibrant culture and the relaxed romance of the Mediterranean. Drawing on Valletta’s heritage as a trading hub, wood, marble and dark, sophisticated finishes contrast with the lighter stone façade of the city’s iconic Waterfront. The design is also reminiscent of Starbucks own mercantile roots in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. @starbucks.mt
Take pride in your anniversary! June partners, how many years are you celebrating!? #tobeapartner
This store in Tempe, Arizona provides an experience for multiple modes with focus on geography, culture and the customer. There is a work zone built for the students, lounge for the residents, and bar area engaging the barista and coffee. Connecting to the outdoor environment, materiality, tone, and texture are expressed through the backdrop of natural brick and wood finishes allowing color to be expressed in the hand painted murals throughout. #tobeapartner
One of a special few and the largest format of its kind in Canada, Granville & Pender Reserve Bar was inspired by the desire to elevate the Starbucks customer experience through the celebration of Reserve coffee and Barista craft. Positioned as a unique urban respite in the Pacific Centre building, the sophisticated but approachable design invites guests to explore coffee in a dramatically illuminated and interactive environment. Full-height glazing along the entire façade provide unobstructed views from street to interior, highlighting the theater of coffee at both Reserve and Core bars.
This store in Los Angeles captures the third place through moments of gathering, human connectivity, work and play. The experience zones are organized through curated furniture to promote points of interaction and connectivity. Unique tools of the trade, coffee objects and kitchenware act as the background to the bar.The mural was created by artist Shogo Ota as a custom wallpaper installation and is fronted by an undulating series of vertical wood rods. The overall store creates a layered, sophisticated environment which allows customers to discover and embrace areas and artistic expressions.
Happy Mother's Day! What Starbucks bev are you bringing your Mom today?
Located in the city's core and adjacent to the busy Seattle Convention Center this location is not only highly visible but also the first Starbucks licensed hospitality project in the city. The licensee desired a unique Starbucks experience. Design and business development worked closely with ops and with the hotel's ownership group to create a truly special store. In addition to standard offerings an expanded food presentation designated the "marketplace" allowed the hotel to remove the sundries store and in-room snacks. The adjacent bar and lounge area were designed to serve glasses of beer or wine and to offer the customer an elevated coffee experience. Customers can interact with the baristas, ask questions, see demonstrations and order core coffees as pour-over or in a copper French press.

This store in New York City takes inspiration from its location: a high traffic corner location in the Victoria’s Secret HQ that doubles as a practice area for runway models. The flooring and back-wall of the space use a very soft and even tone, setting a backdrop or ‘stage-set’ for the bar. The bar design is inspired by couture garments, which utilize a rigid structure but still evoke a lightness of movement when they are worn on the runway. The bar front cladding employs vertical walnut slats to create a rhythm as you move through the cafe, and gradually splay out around the curved hand-off plane to activate the space, offering a nod to the ‘turn’ made at the end of the runway. The back wall exhibits a custom, gold, hand painted siren flowing through the space, helping to integrate Starbucks into its setting by calling to the feminine, sensual qualities of the Victoria’s Secret brand, expressed in the siren. #tobeapartner
Today we are celebrating our 30,000th store! Located in Shenzhen China. The store has three standalone bars, including Starbucks Reserve, Teavana and mixology, to fill the store with distinctive beverages that are sure to delight customers. At each of the bars, specially-trained baristas and mixologists put their craft on display, from morning coffee to afternoon tea to evening cocktail creations. The store also features China’s first dedicated Starbucks Draft bar, serving the company’s signature Cold Brew coffee and teas infused with nitrogen and poured from the tap. The store’s clean design aesthetic brings together artistic elements highlighting Shenzhen’s harbor waters, the innovative spirit of the technology hub, and the modern life of the community. Artwork made of Starbucks Reserve cards showcases the stories behind each Starbucks Reserve bean, from the farm to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Shanghai. As customers explore the 5,100 square foot space, their eyes will be drawn upward to continue their coffee discovery journey with a 3D projection sharing coffee from bean-to-cup. Above the Teavana bar, another art piece is made of colorful tea leaves, highlighting China’s longstanding tea tradition with a modern twist. #tobeapartner

Nestled on the 5th floor of San Francisco's tallest building, our new Starbucks Store in the Salesforce Tower is part of the newest urban icon, Salesforce Park. Taking cues from Salesforce love of all things natural and Hawaiian, the design is conceived as an extension of the park it looks out upon. Exterior park pavers have been utilized as flooring to create a seamless transition from interior to exterior. Warm, Teak toned wood slates create textural surfaces reminiscent of native Hawaii structures. Living green walls and large planters extend the parks vibrant flora to the café interior. Solid wood counter tops create warmth and encourage our customers to lean in and stay a while. Ornate woven wood patterns on the main bar highlight coffee craft. The space also features custom interior and exterior community table seating that reinforces human connection and the “Ohana” spirit. #tobeapartner

The Chestnut Reserve Bar in San Francisco was inspired by the Marina District's history and our Roasteries. Designed as a warm and welcoming community gathering space that beautifully highlights the local lore alongside premium coffee and coffee experiences, a sort of “pocket version” of the Roasteries. Large skylights wash the room in light and warm up the features of pale wood, natural plaster and unique details, such as brass-toned curtains and real brass chandeliers. The skylights also work to create varied light tonalities throughout the day that alter the mood of the room and emphasize the sophisticated minimalism of the tan, walnut and powdered black palette. A wall of “card art” is composed of beautiful cards issued by Starbucks for each of the individual reserve coffees. The cards highlight coffee-producing countries and origin farms, and are arranged to form a map of Panama. Panama, of course, is not only a coffee-producing country, but also the focus of the Panama-Pacific Exposition held more than a century ago on the very same spot. The art piece serves as a bridge between brand and site, while complementing the tone-on-tone beauty of the space. #tobeapartner
Christmas Blend debuted in 1984 at our original Pike Place store in Seattle; it's been a partner and customer favorite for years. In Boise, the store design team's goal was to elevate the stores coffee presence, envisioning an open, experiential concept for coffee discovery. Customers face outdoor views and a custom wall mural depicting an idealized coffee plantation. Painted by artist Erik Burke, the bright and colorful mural shows migrating hummingbirds as they take flight on their journey from southern Mexico through the United States. #tobeapartner
