#Repost @melissaarnot ・・・ Sometimes, with the right amount of toil and silence, you can hear the sunrise speak. Yesterday was one of those days. This mountain has been the most transformative place in my own life and it was such an honor to climb it with a group of people who raised the vital funds that allow @thejuniperfund to support and help Nepali families transform their own lives after tragedy. I will never get tired of this view and I couldn’t be more grateful for the chance to share the mountains with others in this way. #thejuniperfund #gratitude
As we closely watched the successes of many in the spring #Himalayan climbing season, we also mourned the loss of many others. This season saw many deaths on the highest mountains in the world and we are sad to confirm that there have been three fatalities of local high altitude mountain workers. Our thoughts are with each of these families as they navigate the profound loss of their loved ones, and as they enter into an unthinkable period of grief. We have made contact with each of the local families and will work diligently over the next weeks, months, and years to support them as they work to grasp their new reality. To help support these families, and so many like them, please make a donation today. Link in profile. . . . . #nepal #himalaya #everest2019 #everest #puja
There are two key things that make our work in #Nepal possible. #1 Contributions from our amazing donors and #2 @sherpatseringdolker! We could not agree more @thejendaltonshow - she is one incredible human! #Repost @thejendaltonshow ・・・ So many special parts of this week, but what touched me the most was getting to visit some of the Sherpa families supported by the @thejuniperfund (Co-founded by our @eddiebauer bauer guide @melissaarnot ). They are now supporting 45 Sherpa families of those that have lost their loved ones on the mountain like this woman who recently lost her son and welcomed us into her home for tea. 2nd pic is @sherpatseringdolker, who heads up their Nepal operations and is just the most incredible human you could meet 🙏🏻
During their #everestbasecamp trek, Co-Founder @melissaarnot and @mandymooremm were able to visit some of our @thejuniperfund families. We are eternally #grateful for the ongoing and amazing support from all of our donors, as without you our mission would not be possible. Special thanks to @eddiebauer for their unwavering commitment to our vision. Join us on our next journey this fall and experience Khumbu Valley! You will not leave the same person. Link in our profile. . . . . #Repost @mandymooremm ・・・ One of the reasons I’m passionate about working with @eddiebauer is due to the authenticity of their programs - they've been supporting @thejuniperfund since its inception, understanding that we must support the mountain communities that support us. Founded by two @eddiebauer guides (Melissa Arnot & David Morton), the Juniper Fund provides financial support, vocational training and small business grants to the families of local workers who are killed working in the Himalayas. This week we’ve gotten a small glimpse into the impact on the lives of the families that TJF supports with the help of Eddie Bauer and other partners. • This week over 400 people summited Everest and around HALF of them were local workers. @thejuniperfund supports families of those workers when things go wrong- to contribute or learn more see link in bio. #whyihike #ebpartner
This crew just departed #kathmandu for the trip of a lifetime. @mandymooremm @streicherhair and @chaseweideman have joined up with @eddiebauer and our own @melissaarnot to trek into #EverestBaseCamp. They will also get to visit some of our @juniperfund families along the way. Wishing this crew an awesome adventure! You too could join in on the fun this fall as we embark on another @juniperfund Everest Base Camp fundraising trek. Donations go to support the families of high altitude mountain workers who have died while working in the HImalaya. For more info on the trek, visit the link is on our profile. #Repost @mandymooremm ・・・ Today’s the day. As we prepare for another trip to #Nepal, our memories bring us back to last fall when we met with Ang Ngimi Sherpa in #namchebazar. Ang Ngimi’s husband died on #MountEverest in 2014. Since then, she has been able to create a successful and prosperous business for herself as a porter with her 20+ yaks. We saw her on her way to visit her children at Namche School, who are all sponsored by @alpineascentsfoundation . Her spirit is infectious, as is her smile, and we are looking forward to seeing Ang Ngimi again soon!
Endless amount of gratitude for this amazing group of climbers! They all participated in our annual Mt. Rainier Climb to support @thejuniperfund and all made it to the top! Congrats to everyone. This event is our largest fundraiser of the year. The hard work and dedication these individuals put in to make the climb a success, both on and off the mountain, is amazing. And we are lucky to have them as part of our Juniper Fund family. Let's not forget our amazing guide team of @carlhungus23 @dawayangzum @alanpdavis, along with @davidcmorton and @melissaarnot - we could not do this without you. And a big thank you for the generosity and support of @rmiexpeditions @alpineascents @internationalmountainguides @mountrainiernps @whittakermountaineering @lekiusa @silveroakcellars @eddiebauer @zamst_us If you would like to participate in next years climb, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org

This was our delicious meal prepared by Phurwa Yangjee Sherpa, with the help of Yangjee Sherpa. Phurwa Yangjee wanted to show off the cooking skills that she learned in the recent cook training she took through The Juniper Fund. One of the main programs we offer to our family members is Vocation Training. This program allows individuals to develop skills and opportunities in an income producing area of interest. Phurwa Yangjee is a testament to this programs success - the burger was very good! #kathmandu #nepal #burger #deliciousmeals #vocationaltraining #donatetoday
We are so proud of our families who are successfully running their own businesses! During her recent trip to Nepal, our Executive Director, Christine, visited these women who run their own restaurants! To see how well they are doing makes our work that much more meaningful. They make delicious meals - we can confirm! #kathmandu #nepal
Come to Reuben’s Brews this Thursday to support The Juniper Fund and win a free t-shirt! We’ll be there from 3 to 9 PM. Can’t wait to see you there!
Meet @megenglert, our current Juniper Fund intern, who just returned from #Nepal where she studied for four months. After her program ended, Meg was able to spend some extra time in #Kathmandu. She used some of this time to meet with @sherpatseringdolker , our employee in Nepal, and three #Sherpa families who we serve. She is super excited to be working with us and to have found a way to stay connected to the country that became a second home to her. We are excited to be incorporating her into our team this summer!
Come to Thank You Thursday at Reuben’s Brews in Fremont June 28th in support of The Juniper Fund, a seattle-based non-profit that supports Sherpa families who have lost loved ones to mountain-related accidents in Nepal. All you have to do is drink some beer, and $1 per pint, growler, or round of tastings will be donated to The Juniper Fund. We’ll have a fun raffle too. Come support our mission and enjoy an evening at Reuben’s! The link to the event is in our bio.
There are only two days left to get your Juniper Fund t-shirt! Click the link in our profile and order yours today. As the Himalayan season enters its final weeks we are keeping a close eye on all the news, both positive and tragic. We are sad to confirm that there have been four fatalities of local workers so far this season. Each of those families is entering an unthinkable period of grief and we send our hearts to them. In the weeks and months that follow we will begin our support programs with each of them. It doesn’t take a big accident that makes the news for us to be reminded that these tragedies affect whole communities. We are sending our thoughts and prayers that all the remaining teams and workers return home safe. To help support these families, and so many like them, please click on the link in profile to make a donation. . . . . #nepal #himalaya #everest2018 #everest #puja
Many expeditions have a solid weather window this week in the Himalayas to make their summit bids. Sunday in the Everest region provided good weather, which hung around into early Monday morning. Multiple teams on both the Nepal and Tibet side of Mt. Everest are making their way up to the higher camps, and preparing to make their summit bids very soon. It is reported that over 50 individuals have already summited Mt. Everest in the last 3 days. Best of luck to all teams, and stay safe up there! #everest #everest2018 #himalaya #nepal #summit ・・・ #Repost @sid_pattison ・・・ And we're off! In the morning we set off for our summit rotation.
