It’s never too early to start learning about the incredible biodiversity that calls our planet home! 🦋

TimeandTideAfrica

Our oceans are unfathomably important to the welfare of our planet and vital to the survival of humankind. . These invaluable ecosystems provide us with many important services, such as food production, climate regulation, nutrient cycling, clean energy generation and cultural/spiritual value. . The time to act is now if we want to save our oceans. Here are some great ways you can help reduce your impacts: 1. Reduce single use plastics. Reuse whenever possible. Continual production of more and more goods burns through countless resources and huge amounts of energy that contribute to climate change. 2. Use reef-safe sunscreens to prevent toxic chemicals from entering the ecosystem. 3. Check the sources of your seafood and ensure you are eating species considered a more sustainable option based on the recommendations of marine conservation organisations. This helps prevent overfishing of specific species. 4. Bring some gloves and a bucket to the beach next time and spend some time collecting trash from the shores, then disposing of it in a safe manner. . Thank for joining us on our mission to conserve and protect our beautiful oceans! 🐠

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our beloved family, Lower Zambezi guide Alan Bonella. A competent mountain biker, he felt unwell during a longer ride on the weekend and hit his head after, we believe, he fainted. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Nicci Bonella, who was his partner in life, work and endless adventures. . He leaves behind a legacy spanning a decade of guiding, conservation and fearless exploration through the Lower Zambezi and other wild corners of Africa. . With a great sense of humour, passion for wildlife and a flair for storytelling, he was a fantastic guide and teacher to many, sharing his love of the natural world with all those lucky enough to visit. Alan was also an avid fisherman and talented photographer, capturing the beauty of the region through his lens. . Alan, you leave an enormous hole in our midst...you will be missed. . All photos here were captured by Alan during his time guiding.
