HUGE WIN: New York has just passed TIME’S UP’s #NYSafetyAgenda, extending NY’s statutes of limitation for 2nd & 3rd degree rape to 20 & 10 years and strengthening protections for sexual harassment. This is an incredible victory for survivors, who will now have more time to pursue justice, and for every New Yorker, who deserves to work in safety and dignity. Thank you @NYGovCuomo, @SenatorBiaggi, @AravellaSimotas and @andreastewartcousins for your unwavering leadership. Your commitment to passing this legislation will impact generations of New Yorkers to come. Sending gratitude to @MiraSorvino, @wobblessilva, @CarmenLoBue, @realmichellehurd, @juliannemoore, @GloriaSteinem & the whole TIME’S UP network for raising your voices for the #NYSafetyAgenda & saying #TIMESUP on laws that don’t protect us. And thank you to the thousands of #TIMESUP supporters, who sent messages and made calls to NY lawmakers. Your voices were heard. YOU made this historic win possible.

Powerful testimony from @mirasorvino at our press conference in Albany today. There are many reasons why a survivor may wait to come forward. Year after year, New York’s statute of limitations for 2nd & 3rd degree rape - among the shortest in the U.S. - keeps these survivors from justice. We need NY legislators to pass the #NYSafetyAgenda before June 19th. If you live in NY, contact your reps today (find the link in our stories and swipe up!).

**Contact your NY reps at the link in bio, or tag a friend who lives in NY in the comments 📝☎️🗽** NEW YORK: Year after year, an outdated NY law keeps countless rape survivors from justice. NY has one of the shortest time limits for reporting 2nd and 3rd degree rape in the nation after North Dakota. The #NYSafetyAgenda would strengthen protections for New Yorkers who are sexually harassed at work AND end the state’s outdated time limit on reporting 2nd and 3rd degree rape. Write your NY lawmakers and tell them to pass these critical policies NOW.

New York has one of the shortest time limits for reporting a 2nd or 3rd degree rape in the ENTIRE COUNTRY. In the next few weeks, NY legislators have the power - and the obligation to survivors across the state - to change this. #TIMESUP ( @nowthisnews)

When she refused to quiet down about her daughter’s experience, Maribel was demoted to a minimum wage role & had her hours cut. 📷 4: Jamelia Fairley, a 23-year-old single mother, complained about multiple incidents of harassment she experienced at @McDonalds. Less than a week after women athletes spoke out, Nike has announced that their contracts will explicitly address pregnancy. This is an important step. Nobody should be penalized for being pregnant, and we hope these standards become the industry norm. To @alysiamontano, @karagoucher and the other athletes who raised their voices: Change is only possible when leaders like you speak out - not only for yourselves, but for generations to come. Thank you. [[Add your name to the #TIMESUP thank you letter at the link in our bio]]

This culture of behavior is too often tolerated within healthcare institutions. While the legal process takes its course, we’ll continue to call for institutions & organizations to prioritize equity, inclusion & safety. #TIMESUPHC

On THIS day in 1992, Professor Anita Hill (pictured above with Gloria Steinem) was the keynote speaker at a forum at Hunter College entitled “Women Tell the Truth: A Conference on Parity, Power and Sexual Harassment.” The conference addressed the pervasiveness of sexual harassment and abuse against women, the lack of representation of women in politics and positions of power, and more. Honoring Geraldyn "Jerrie" Cobb, who passed this week at 88. Cobb was a trailblazing female pilot. She was tapped by NASA to become a member of the test group Mercury 13, a group of women who completed the same physically demanding astronaut training as male candidates. NASA terminated the program before any of the women could go to space, but Cobb continued to fight. The above quote comes from her 1962 testimony to Congress in support of women astronauts. (📷 NASA)

Congratulations @thandohopa! ❤️ Regram @thandohopa: I once said to a close friend that it would really be lovely to see a woman with albinism on a Vogue Cover, I would not have imagined that that woman would be me. "We are the ones we have been waiting for." I'm emotional, because I see progress and get to form part of a progressive story and narrative. I got to a place in my career where I appreciate every specimen of my body and knowing that wherever I go, my existence, the way it is, has always and will always be enough.
