Either it’s a savage indictment on accepting and glorifying unhealthy levels of body fat, or it’s empowering women to love their “true” selves because “you are not your body” (a statement any decent doctor would laugh at, try being chronically sick and disassociating your mind from your body) and “all women are beautiful” (another patently absurd notion for the most subjective of judgements). . . Then there’s a third approach to looking at this - Nike want to sell as much of their gear as possible and are running a commercial experiment to see if showing clothes in a body that accurately represents a section of their, probably quite untapped, the market helps them sell more clothes to that group.
