Come on, new day!!
Loving Martha’s Vineyard being with my mom on a sunny summer afternoon.
Full moon in Oak Bluffs.
Please join us!! #findingmyvoice
So proud to introduce @staceyabrams on Martha’s Vineyard as she raises awareness about #fairfight.
The very beginning of a new sunny day on Martha’s Vineyard 😎☀️🔥⚡️
Amazing event yesterday talking about @riggedthefilm which available now on Amazon. Learn about how to fight back against orchestrated effort to suppress our vote.
What could better after a long morning work out?😋
Heaven on earth. #Nancy’s.
I ask all patriotic American who love our country to use your voices to be a force for good. I ask you to speak out against hate and help unify our country that is being pulled apart by the poisoning of our democracy. We cannot afford to sit idly by. Every voice matters.
Bravo to the Ford Foundation, the Melon Foundation, the J. Paul Getty Trust and the MacArthur Foundation for purchasing the extraordinary Johnson Publishing archives. They are a unique treasure that is also a testament to the tremendous role the Johnson family has played in our nation’s history. This photo of Martin Luther King Jr with his family after he won the Nobel Peace Prize is just one of more than 4 million imagines that show critical moments in African American history.
Oh my how I wish the American people had listened to @michelleobama three years ago when she addressed the Democratic Convention and she said, “I want someone with the proven strength to persevere, someone who knows this job and takes it seriously, someone who understands that the issues a president faces are not black and white and cannot be boiled down to 140 characters. Because when you have the nuclear codes at your fingertips and the military in your command, you can't make snap decisions. You can't have a thin skin or a tendency to lash out. You need to be steady and measured and well-informed. I want a president with a record of public service, someone whose life's work shows our children that we don't chase form and fortune for ourselves, we fight to give everyone a chance to succeed.”
This cartoon captures reality for far too many women.
Four years ago Julia Louis Dreyfus and I had a carefree dinner talking about the upcoming season of Veep. So much has changed...
“Six years ago today: he listened...and thought before he spoke...and didn’t publicly say he could wipe another country off the face of the earth...and...”. @petesouza
Trying out a new pair sun glasses on my first trip since becoming a grandmother. Too big?
Nothing has brought me nearly as much joy as raising Laura and watching her grow into a strong, confident, loving adult. And now, she and Tony gave me this precious grandson 👶🏽❤️🥰❤️.
In the seven years since this photo was taken, I hope this young boy grew up remembering the touch of real leadership. For it is so hard to be what we cannot see. Thanks, @petesouza for always reminding us of better days.
@barackobama granted Danielle Metz clemency in 2016. After she was released from prison, she made the dean’s list in college. Thank goodness we experienced 8 years of a president with compassion who searched for the good in each of us and believed in second chances.
Just left @the.wing in Boston. It only opened only weeks ago and it is already full of extraordinary women. Their stories touched me deeply and the team that helped make every so special is right here!!
Check out Sally Jenkins excellent piece today in the Washington Post- “Never again should this most magnificent of American teams be shortchanged by the so-called power brokers in suits, the players treated as some kind of subsidized junior varsity who should be thankful for what they get — as opposed to the steel-toed legends they are.”
In the presence of greatness🔥. Watching our Forever First Lady @michelleobama warmly greet and embrace the ageless and extraordinary Cicely Tyson. ❤️💕🥰#essencefestival

On July 2, 1964, President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law prohibiting discrimination on the bases of race, color, religion, or national origin. It was a huge step but did not mean our work was done. Each generation must continue to perfect our union.
Look who slipped into my spot in my bed the second I got up this morning. Honey!!
Enjoying an early morning conversation with my mom in her backyard. A butterfly decided to eavesdrop and landed on her head band.
Looking forward to seeing everybody at @essencefest this week in New Orleans!! Here are two of my events. Stay tune for more. Will be talking about #findingmyvoice.
Barbie dolls have come a long way since I was a little girl when they were all white with stereotypically “perfect” bodies . I congratulate @mattel for once again looking for new ways to show the rich diversity of our girls.
Literally a whirlwind trip to NY for #stonewall #stonewall50. Was thrilled to be there for the celebration. Heading home now.
Three years ago, I had the honor of representing @barackobama at the ceremony celebrating his Stonewall National Park designation. It was the official National Park dedicated to telling the story of LGBTQ Americans. Today I will be joined by my co-chair Chelsea Clinton and allies for LGBTQ equality as we celebrate Stonewall Day and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion. Stonewall should inspire us all as we continue the struggle, in the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., to bend the long arc of the moral universe towards justice.
Progress always seems impossible until we make it inevitable. Four years ago the long arc of the moral universe bent towards justice. Thank you to James Obergefell, and the countless advocates who relentless fought to ensure that #lovemeanslove 🌈
Thank you, @blackgirlsrock for this post! “I have dreamt of this since I was a young woman and it’s an honor to join the ranks of some of America’s most decorated athletes. I hope my image on this iconic orange box will inspire the next generation of girls and athletes to dream big”. @serenawilliams
Three generations of our family gathered together to celebrate the newest member of the fourth generation on his or her way 👶🏽🥰❤️
Just arrived at #aspenideas #aspenideasfestival. Looking forward to my conversation moderated by @capehartj about #findingmyvoice. Thrilled to see my book on display on two shelves.
