Tomorrow morning, we revisit a #SundayTODAY classic with Dave. See you in the AM on @NBC.
Still the best deal in New York: the FREE ride on the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty. You get her coming and going... with a stop in between to watch the @SIYankees on Billy Madison Back to School Night. Sandler couldn’t make it but the actor who played the principal was there signing the pencil pouch given out to the first 1,000 lucky fans. Plus free pudding because why not. Great ballpark with views back to Lower Manhattan on a perfect late summer night with my guy.
TOMORROW (Saturday, 8/3), 2PM! Christina and I will be back in our hometown of Ridgewood, NJ at Bookends Bookstore wearing these *exact* outfits in their original 1992 sizes as Christina signs copies of her new @NYTimes Best Seller “SORRY, GROWN-UPS, YOU CAN’T GO TO SCHOOL!” and I answer any and all questions about the ‘91 State Championship Game and high school power lunches at The OL. See you tomorrow at 2!
I love the fun celeb magazines in the waiting room at the doctor’s office, especially when enjoyed with an 80s-era soft drink.
WHOA! Christina’s new book “SORRY, GROWN-UPS, YOU CAN’T GO TO SCHOOL!” debuts at #4 on the @NYTimes Best Sellers List! I sneaked this pic through the window of the moment after she got the news. As you can see, it was a complete shock. Christina is so grateful to all of you who are reading the book and she hopes it makes the back-to-school transition a little easier. As you can see, our twin buddies Alex and Pen are big fans. Congratulations, @UCanCallMeShark! ⭐️ ❤️ 🍷
There’s only one Sunday out of 52 when #SundayTODAY isn’t on the air live, so this morning I’m at the lake instead of in the studio. @TheOpen final round is on @NBC while our great team enjoys a well-deserved day off. We’ll see you next week for a really good one with this guy, @JakeGyllenhaal!
A healthy pour and a big toast to an amazing, whirlwind, bestselling week for Christina and her red-hot new children’s book “SORRY, GROWN-UPS, YOU CAN’T GO TO SCHOOL!”. Check it out wherever you get your books to make that camp or back-to-school transition easier for your little guys. Congratulations, @UCanCallMeShark! 👏 ❤️ ⭐️
50 years ago. Look up there tonight and imagine what they did. 🇺🇸
ANOTHER great day of Christina hustling with her new children’s book “SORRY, GROWN-UPS, YOU CAN’T GO TO SCHOOL!”. Thank you, @Sara_Gore and @JacqueReid at “New York Live”, and to all of you for the big support that has Christina’s book racing up the charts! @UCanCallMeShark @SorryGrownUps
I like to submit this photo into evidence from time to time to prove that I identified @UCanCallMeShark’s badassery long before the general American population did. It’s us at the junior prom in 1992. ONE WEEK from today, my prom date/wife Christina releases her second children’s book “SORRY, GROWN-UPS, YOU CAN’T GO TO SCHOOL!”. It’s a funny back-to-school story with a technique that works in real life, and the beautiful illustrations of @TimBowersArt. Pre-order now or grab a copy at your favorite bookstore on Tuesday, 7/16. Every copy comes with a polka-dotted bow tie from 1992.
I took @UCanCallMeShark to @MtFuji.Steakhouse in Hillburn, NY for her 17th birthday. She drove because I didn’t have my license yet so I guess she took *me* actually. Last night we were back to celebrate our little guy’s 10th birthday with the full “Banzai!” treatment. Yoshi and Nancy pulled off a beautiful renovation of one of our favorite spots. I can’t recommend the Mt. Fuji night enough. #Banzai 🇯🇵
Congratulations, @BravoAndy on 10 years of the best party on television. Thanks for letting me crash once in a while to tangle with Housewives, drink actual gin and juice with Snoop, and have things pinned on me by a blindfolded, handsy Lil Kim. You’re the best. #WWHL
Thank you for sending my dad’s book LAKE OF THE OZARKS back to the @NYTimes Bestseller List! What a run...
Christina and I got consecutive holes-in-one on the same hole of mini-golf. It was one of the greatest moments in golf history and I was honored to be a part of it. ⛳️ @UCanCallMeShark
Happy Father’s Day!
Tomorrow on #SundayTODAY, a special Father’s Day interview with my dad, BILL GEIST! See you in the AM on @NBC. #LakeOfTheOzarks
Proud of my brother Mark Kossick on the launch of @KohortApp. It’s social media without all the worst parts of social media. KOHORT has NO ads, NO algorithms, NO sharing of your personal data, NO creepiness. None of it. It’s a simple, safe place to gather and organize with family and friends where you have real, actual privacy. Download the app and give it try. We’re loving it already. Mark also makes a great Best Man in a wedding if anyone is in the market. Congrats, Mark and Team Kohort!
It’s not too late for Father’s Day! Grab a copy of my dad BILL GEIST’s new bestseller “LAKE OF THE OZARKS” wherever you get your books. It’s hilarious and a much better gift than the last-minute BBQ apron you’re going to end up with tomorrow.
SHE DID IT! @AliStroker is a Tony winner! Accepting on stage she said, “This award is for every kid who is watching tonight who has a disability, who has a limitation or a challenge who has been waiting to see themselves represented in this arena – you are." ⭐️ (See my post a few back for our backstory.)
I found myself today looking closely at the faces of the remaining D-Day veterans who traveled to Normandy, probably for the last time. All in their nineties now, they were boys back then, like the ones in these photos looking out from their boats at a beach so far from the towns and the high schools they had left back home, and seeing the horror that awaited them. They’ll all be gone on the next big anniversary — pages in a history book and exhibits at a museum. It’s up to us now to keep alive the story of what they did to save the world. I’m just so grateful. #DDay 🇺🇸
Tomorrow on #SundayTODAY, we make THIS happen. BILL HADER meets @DatelineNBC’s KEITH MORRISON for the first time, and it’s everything you hope it would be. Plus, my conversation with Bill about his HBO series “Barry” and those “SNL” years playing “Keith” and “Stefon.” See you in the AM on @NBC!
Took my 9-year-old to the clinic for a quick strep test. Great place that has photos of movie and TV doctors on the wall, but we got the room with... Nurse Ratched! AFI named her the 5th greatest movie villain of all time, just after Darth Vader and the Wicked Witch of the West. My son might slide her up a few spots after she stared at us chillingly for 30 minutes. I tried not to make eye contact. Next time we’ll wait for the Doogie Howser Room.
Sgt. William Everett Geist. Killed on April 23, 1945 while flying in the B-17 bomber, The Flying Fortress, just two weeks before the end of the war in Europe. He was 20 years old. My dad, Bill Geist, was born a few days later and named in honor of his Uncle Bill. We’re thinking today about Uncle Bill and all the men and women who died too young so the rest of us can live to grow old. Thank you. #MemorialDay 🇺🇸
16 years ago today in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The ceremony was just like our marriage: Long, hot, and mostly in Spanish. Happy Anniversary, Christina! ❤️
Tomorrow morning on #SundayTODAY... a rare DAVE sighting in the wild! Our special, extended “Sunday Sitdown” with David Letterman. See you in the AM on @NBC.
Guys! My dad’s book LAKE OF THE OZARKS debuts at #8 on the New York Times Bestsellers List! We cannot thank you enough for the love and huge support of a book that means so much to my dad. He is thrilled and so grateful to all of you. 🙏
A story about a Broadway star from a proud old friend. Today, I watched the TONY-NOMINATED (!) @AliStroker absolutely kill in “Oklahoma!” on Broadway. Ali and I both grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Her father, Jim Stroker was my football and basketball coach, and remains a legend in town. When Ali was just 2 years old, she and her brother Jake were in a very serious car accident. Ali was paralyzed from the chest down. If you swipe through you’ll see our high school basketball team photo. That’s me on the front row left holding hands with Jake, and Ali on the front row right with her little walker. Jake and Ali were always with us. We watched them fight through their disabilities. We watched them struggle and keep going. We watched Coach Stroker’s relentless love for and pride in his kids. The Strokers inspired us every day. Knowing where Ali started, watching the long journey, and seeing how hard she’s worked to get to that big stage on Broadway and become a TONY-NOMINATED actress, well, I can’t quite put into words how I felt watching her out there today. We love you, Ali. To quote another Broadway show, “‘Pride’ is not the word I’m looking for... there is so much more...” Congratulations, superstar.
Guys, we reeled in a big one. DAVE this weekend on #SundayTODAY!
This is how you’ve made my dad, BILL GEIST, feel this week with your outpouring of support for his hilarious new book LAKE OF THE OZARKS, and for his work over 40 years. Thank you for that. Here he is at his birthday dinner last night (📸: Aunt Sharon). Those sparklers were from all of you. LAKE OF THE OZARKS is available everywhere now, and it’s as funny and great as you’d expect from my dad. (Book cover 📸: @GodfreyDadich).
Great one for you tomorrow morning on #SundayTODAY: KEANU REEVES! “John Wick”, “The Matrix”, “Bill and Ted’s”, the proposed changes to his name when he first got to Hollywood... all of it. See you in the AM on @NBC.
A special episode of the “Sunday Sitdown” podcast up now with... MY DAD! Yes, I landed the BILL GEIST interview, talking about his hilarious new book LAKE OF THE OZARKS, available everywhere. Check us out wherever you get your podcasts.
Well, this is a hell of a thing. My *very exclusive* interview with the author of both the hilarious new book LAKE OF THE OZARKS *and* half of my genetic code, BILL GEIST! See you in the AM on @TODAYShow with my pops. It’s a good one.
My dad’s book “LAKE OF THE OZARKS” comes out three weeks from today, on MAY 7TH! It’s a hysterical memoir of his years in high school and college working at his Uncle Ed’s Arrowhead Lodge. JASON BATEMAN wants you to know the book has nothing to do with his hit show @Ozark. JON MEACHAM and JANE PAULEY loved it as much as you will. Pre-order now wherever you get your books!
Happy #NationalSiblingDay, @LibbyGeist! Thanks for always pretending you’re impressed. Love you. 💪
