#WSLCoverShot taken by @ianthurtell at Skeleton Bay, Namibia - "This was shot in the evening with solid 8-10ft perfect sandy monsters rolling down the point. The full size of the swell moves down the point with its ‘elbow’ bent towards the shore due to the bathymetry creating an unusual photo. The wave looks as if it's going in 2 different directions."
#WSLCoverShot taken by @gotfilm - "This wave here which had a heavy double up in it at take off was the very first one of the set and @nicvonrupp did serious justice for it, then third wave saw @lfioravanti getting a bomb which ended up in a cover of Surfing Magazine. Conditions were mind-blowing from sunrise to sunset, through the whole tidal swing, with wind blowing offshore all day long. One of those special ones for sure."

The #BigWaveTour #MavericksChallenge will not run on March 23rd. Mike Parsons, WSL Big Wave Tour Commissioner: “We have been closely monitoring the forecast models for Mavericks over the past week. Unfortunately, the swells we were tracking for March 23 will not deliver up to the Big Wave Tour standards to run a full day of competition. Additionally, permit restrictions and the USAF Base blackout period on March 23 present logistical challenges for the event’s judging, as all operations would need to run from the water. We've discussed with the Big Wave athlete reps and they agree that this swell will not provide enough opportunities to run the full event. It is unlikely that we will have another swell before the season closes, but we will continue to monitor the conditions through March 31, the final day of the waiting period.” @wslbigwave . 📸: @fred_pompermayer
@nicvonrupp on going left at Mavericks: "On my way to Mavericks only thing I could think of was going left out there... that wave has so much potential, probably the meanest, biggest paddle approachable slab around. After 3 sessions out there, I quickly saw my dream of slipping into one of these beast diminishing. So much risk involved... you've got to be under it, dodging 20ft sets. Seems like all the energy of the right bends into the left and dumps into the edge of the ledge. You get pounded, you go to deep dark places scraping for your life. What about trying to knife a 9.9 into a steep ledge like this? But that’s what makes it special." 📸: @derekdunfee
Thousands of people showed up in Torquay, Victoria, Australia this weekend for a paddle out against Equinor's plans to drill in the Great Australian Bight. Industrializing the Southern Ocean and risking an oil spill would be detrimental to marine life, our coasts, and our one ocean. Help prevent deepwater drilling of the Bight by commenting directly to NOPSEMA at wsl.tv/fightbight. . #WSLPURE | Photos by @edsloanephoto

We are all in this together. Surfing is a global community and when our local communities are in need, we band together to support one another.
